Some PNR's and ghost screens to improve his momentum towards the rim.

that would require GTJ and Siakam not getting the ball more often. Barnes needs the ball in his hands to do "more" with it but its Siakam's team. lots of mouths to feed in the starting 5 it seems.

Who's he gonna run PnR's with in the SL? Siakam? OG? It only works when you have a big that can set a solid screen AND be a roll/lob threat. PnR is the bread and butter of the NBA for a reason and this dumb no big lineup is the reason the Raps cant do the simplest and most effective play in the league.

At one point I was worried about his hands. Last night he completed an alley-oop with 1 hand and it was ever-so-soft. His hands are fine.

He literally doesn't have any bad attributes.

Same, after seeing him at summer league I thought he had terrible hands as well.

That and the fact that he was getting mad at getting missed by the guards and then not getting back as quick as he should have made me think he wasn't going to amount to much.

However seeing him in pre-season it's clear he's improved a considerable amount. Hopefully he keeps getting better and becomes a solid rotation player.

Shows you why I should not run a team.

If you missed the Rico runs, he happened to look really good in them. Just catching lobs regularly and blocking/altering everything. He was flowing with Fred, Scottie, and Pascal really well. Some games it looked like he had 3-4 blocks... and these are games up to 7 pts.

I did see the Rico runs and while he did look better, I find it really hard to take too much from those runs. Been burned too many times by the hype off summer runs. That's as negative as I get though.

But it's a new season, and the sky's the limit until it isn't.

i don't see any one get-able player that can both impact offense AND defense in the loss of GTJ and OG, for example.

I don't either but if we're a first-round exit again. I also don't see MLSE and Masai wanting to go into the luxury tax for such a flawed roster.

It would be nice if we as a team could set better screens. Outside of Birch, nobody on this team does it well.

That said, I think we should move to playing a two man game with Scottie and Pascal, starting with getting the ball into the mid-post area. Both guys can throw entry passes, make reads with the ball, score and pass from the post. There’s a lot you could do here.

-have OG and Trent screen for each other at the three point line on the weakside. While Scottie, Pascal and Fred are running actions on the strong side, one of OG and Trent sets up in the corner, and the other on the wing. Whoever is on the wing can make a 45 cut when the ball enters the post or the wing player can down screen for the corner guy who can pop out to the wing or curl down the key on the weakside
-on the strong side, you got the handler throwing the entry pass from the top, the wing or the baseline (depending on how the defence and how the play develops). Ideally you want Fred opposite the ball handler, in the corner of the entry pass is coming from the top, or on the top of the entry pass is coming from the wing/corner
-if the entry pass comes from the top/wing the passer can dive or 45 cut to the basket and if they don’t get the ball can occupy the weakside dunkers spot or use the baseline to flow out to the corner 3 area on the strong side
-if the entry pass comes from the baseline, the passer can flow out to the wing/top, triggering whoever was at the wing/top to cut to the bucket and occupy the dunker’s spot or flow out for the corner three strong side. Alternatively, if the entry pass comes from the baseline, that player can cut baseline, allowing the post player to play a two man game with whoever is on the wing. If they double the post there are options all over the court depending on where the double comes from
-further to the above, on the strong side, whoever has the ball in the post area can hit the weakside guy who comes off the screen on the wing, or hit that guy if they choose to curl. Alternatively, they can hit strong side cutters. Or they can make a move to the basket from the post or face-up triple threat.

The above formation would do a lot to open up the O imo. Of course, this is all dependent on screen setting and making threes from the strong side players above the break.
not strong, only aggresive cuz the power ain't directed/ that's why, we are subjected to the will of the oppressive

Did I say we were close? But he could become gettable, as things could easily go south in Bkn.

Kawhi also seemed not gettable until he was.

we had to trade away a star to get a star. which is entirely different from trying to trade two role players for a star.

apples and oranges between these two situations.
