Re: Raptors Official 2013 Offseason Transaction Idea Thread
I wouldn't mind getting Amare Staudamire if it only cost us Bargnani/Fields.
NYK save some $ to try to resign JR Smith while they take on bad contracts for the same duration of Amare.
Amare gives Toronto a go to guy down-low. He's been injured, so it's a risk... but Bargnani and Fields don't do anything for this team... so it's worth it.

A big risk for sure, but could have a bigger reward if he gets 100% healthy - would be a good fit alongside JV. We hired Alex McKechnie for a reason, after all. Didn't Phil tweet something about him "fixing" Shaq?
Lineup would be:
Lowry
Derozan
Gay
Amare
JV
Amir (30 mpg)
Ross (25 mpg)
And then we could use the MLE to sign vets like Randy Foye and Mike Dunleavy. Top 4 seed.

I would do it but a couple things.
1. Dont see NYK taking Fields. It would need to be a 3 team deal where a similar contract is traded (Beasley from PHX, i know they liked Fields before? Or SAC with Hayes + Outlaw?)
2. The problem with Amare is the same problem with Boozer. The 5+ million we take on in 2014/2015. With Lowry needing an extension + Gay at 17 million your going to be a tax team unless MLSE is ok with that.
3. I see Bargnani as an excellent fit in NYKs starting 5. He provides the spacing and saves them cash.
maybe something like (assuming MLSE is ok with paying tax).
To TOR: Amare Stoudamire
To NYK: Andrea Bargnani + Chuck Hayes + Travis Outlaw
To SAC: Landry Fields + Aaron Gray

2 expiring vets that help now. A young big to add to the Scottie timeline
I'd prefer to keep Stew and give Monte Morris
I'd really prefer to keep Morris and Stew and give the great Killian Hayes and 2nd round picks

Since the New CBA allows it, Trade back for Ed Davis!
July 1st at the earliest, instead of the old rule of a 1 full year wait.

Do we really want Amare though? We have to assess whether or not Amare at his immense cost will make our team any better then just amnestying Andrea and rolling with Amir. I dont think he makes us any better to take on the dollars.

NY will offer to give the Raps Bargnani and Fields for often injured Amare + Valanciunas

Why the hell would NOH give up 2 of their best players for a package that brings back Bargnani + Kleiza?

I think that any deal that can bring us a good player for him will be a nice deal. If we can get a Millsap/Jefferson/Amare/Gasol guy for him... I'm down.
If we can't do that, but we get nice bench players to compliment our team, it's a good deal. Bargnani is a net negative to this team now. He's not with this team mentally. We need to get rid of him.

Re: Raptors Official 2013 Offseason Transaction Idea Thread
Look, Amare might be the worst player in the entire league to trade for--yes, even before bargs.
Dumping Fields doesn't help. The truth is, Bargs is a talent. I want him gone but he's such a pain in the ass because you just know some good team is going to use him properly, or be good enough to draw attention away from him, or make him try....or something. If he goes, a big has to come back.
I'd trade him to the Western Conference for some decent bench players, or to the East for a legit low post threat. Barring that, we are stuck with him. As long as he is brought off the bench and given some half decent talent to work with, he can help. He always has in that role--the one Mitchell gave him so long ago. If Amir goes down (and he will) we're going to need that extra big (as poorly a big man as he is-he can defend the paint one on one).
Hopefully, he plays well in Europe so we can finally get a pick and a throwaway for him--but not from any Eastern team.

It's pretty simple really. Two firsts. Rookie Ross and a 2015 first. This also improves their 2014 pick, a true tanking trade, which is very similar to the Amir + Lowry + Gay + DD contract dumping for picks trades proposed here daily, but from the other angle.
That and the massive salary relief, since Klieza is an expiring and Bargs has less years left on his contract.
Plus, Bargs is a better fit next to A Davis than Anderson, as he has the bulk for low post D to complement Davis' elite help skills.
Oh, and injury risk of E Gordon

If BC is back, we need to start thinking of trades involving Kyle Lowry. He didn't seem to thrilled with him as the PG of this team.

BC is building a run and gun team while DC is playing half court, low pace game. Somethings gotta give.

That trade does not even work in the trade checker. So I do not think this deal is even possible. And if NOH was looking to trade Gordon for trash, they would have done it already.

Add in JL 3 and it passes (does RGM trade checker include trade kickers?).
I bet they get less than TRoss, salary relief, a reclamation project and a 1st for Gordon + R Anderson. That's just my opinion of course.

Absolutely for whoever is GM. It has to be a significant upgrade not a lateral move because Casey liked Jose better. I think this season will be status quo and Lowry will be front and centre trying to be legit in a contract year. Like the Raps team as a whole you'd like to think they and him can work through the issues that make him and them, let's be honest, dreadfully inconsistent. Lowry lacks composure more than anything else.
