If anything, this is showing that most people do have some sort of empathy by choosing not to get themselves and others sick by staying home. Of course, there are some people who couldn't care less, like you. There's a difference between taking the proper precautions and being careless.

Your attitude is, hey if I get into car accident, I will probably die anyways, so why wear a seatbelt? That is idiotic.

If you want to be stupid and careless and get sick and possibly die, then that's on you but don't get other people sick.

This is exactly what I mean. First thing you do is spew hate and make judgments based on an assumption. You have no idea what a person needs to go through to get to this point because you only see the world through your perspective. If the perspective differs form your own you defer to name calling and it is idiotic.

Yes I wouldn't mind dying, but I'm not suicidal. Is that too hard for you to fathom? Also, just because I have this perspective doesn't mean that I don't respect the fact that others should have a choice and obviously if I have this perspective it is difficult for me to understand others. Funny thing is that I stated my opinion because I wanted to understand.

You said it yourself that you don't understand what the point of social distancing is and you don't understand why people care for their own lives and health. That indicated that you couldn't care less about following the rules and therefore putting other people at risk. If you or other people get sick, it's "meant to be" right?

It's funny how you worded your first reply in a specific way and then you get angry when people have an issue with it. Then you want others to feel sorry for you. No where did you say you don't understand the rules but are still respecting them and respect other people's rights as well. If you did, then no one would be taking issue with it.

As I said, you do whatever you want to do with your life but don't put others at risk if you want to be careless and stupid. You may not care about your own or other people's lives but others do.

Lets just force everyone to wear a mask and if you don't you go to jail for attempted murder. If someone actually dies then 2nd degree murder and so forth. See how fast this thing goes a way if you enforce that.

Angry? Feel sorry for me? Wtf are you talking about? Again, look beyond what you perceive and understand that there is another side called reality. Here you are replying over semantics when I told you straight up what I was thinking yet still all you can think about is what you initially perceived. To add to it you psychoanalyze me based on your interpretation of my words.. wow  Given that you already know what I'm thinking, I couldn't' care less about getting you sick. Don't like it? Too bad, I'm selfish. In fact I feel more inclined to get you sick just to get you upset. Deal with it!

As you may have guessed, couldn't give 2 shts. Let's just agree to disagree. Stay healthy genius.

You're correct. I'm not at your "level" of not giving a **** about others.

You do you.

If that means not being on your "level" of not giving a **** about others then I'm okay with that.

You do do.

Good luck to you then. You shouldn't be living in a society then if you hate yourself and other people so much. Go live in a cave.

One day you will need some real help from someone and they're not going to give a ****. Karma is a thing.

Sorry you feel that way. The vast majority of people do not want to die. This is not a difficult concept to get. People have kids, spouses, significant others, parents, siblings, friends, etc. It is not so much you but the impact it will have on your loved ones. I don’t understand how you can find it amusing that people care about their lives.

Even if you state that you don’t care, consider how people are dying of this. If you go to the intensive care at the hospital you have a 50% chance of being intubated. This is when they use a ventilator to stick a long tube down your throat to your lungs to help you breathe. If you do get on a ventilator you have something like a 30% chance of survival. Most people on ventilators die. You’ll be gasping for breath with inflamed lungs that are full of fluid. You may have multi-organ failure, respiratory failure and septic shock. I’m sure this isn’t the way you want it to end. This isn’t the way your family and friends want to see you go, alone and infectious, unable to be visited as you die alone. Wrapped up and buried while the undertaker is wearing a hazmat suit.

I would seriously suggest getting some kind of therapy for yourself once this thing is over.

Even by the standards of this board, this guy is extraordinarily strange.

"I like the idea of getting you sick and putting your life in danger  because you'd be upset if you died "

Does this person not know that by getting other people sick, they're actually making the situation more dangerous for themselves?

Assuming that they do get sick and are spreading the disease before their own symptoms worsen, by getting other people sick they run the risk of further burdening the healthcare infrastructure, already constrained as it is, which would then lower their own quality of care should their own symptoms worsen. The selfish thing to do in this situation is exactly to be paranoid. This isn't even to get into the economic impact and the fact that they are literally in a country with socialized healthcare. It's one thing to be selfish, it's another to have your head up your ass.

Great graphic

We got really lucky with Ebola they were able to contain it. There tracking of possible cases was incredible

If i remember correctly there was a case where someone had contracted Ebola from a family member and was hospitalized for it.
He left the hospital against medical advice and took a flight to a highly populated area but collapsed in the airport. He was then in isolation. He was set to lecture to a large group there and other areas later. If he had not collapsed and been put into isolation, two high populated cities could have had major issues and it could spread to other countries (i think one of the cities was a travel hub)

I don't remember any hysteria during the swing flu - H1N1. Was it not contagious? 200k deaths seems huge in recent history.

The morality rate was lower than the seasonal flu. It effectively just replaced the flu that year.

Japan just declared a state of emergency in Tokyo and six other prefectures. This after making it seem like they had it under control, still allowing a nightlife, karaoke bars, etc. Seems there lack of testing is keeping there numbers down.

The prime minister is also shown taking off his mask incorrectly.

Also, if this is a sign of things to come when lockdowns are lifted we are screwed.

social distancing is to reduce the spread of a very contagious virus...not that hard to understand. also this isn't the first pandemic in human history...there is a long history of pandemics, some that have wiped out large numbers of humans.

viruses are a part of being a human just like bacteria...doesn't mean I want to die from it though.

They were deadlier but less contagious. Those outbreaks happened in isolated parts of the world only. This is the first time since the Spanish flu that weve seen a world pandemic.

H1N1 was the opposite of that. It was extremely contagious (over a billion infections) but not very deadly (lower mortality rate than the seasonal flu).

Good luck to you then. You shouldn't be living in a society then if you hate yourself and other people so much. Go live in a cave.

Karma is a thing.
