I think the only way trading Norm works is if it is to balance the roster. With Kyle and Fred you have TD, Flynn, Thomas off the bench, all of whom have upside but are very unproven. You could take a chance and move Norm for more size at the 3 or 4, but I'd be hesitant.

I agree with this. And I think this is why I don't see him being moved.

And if Norm picks up his option, then Masai cant get his max free agent. Norm would have to promise he is opting out. It would also mean hes not coming back, why would he promise that to a team that wont be his future home. If you want a max slot next year you trade Norm, plus he is your best trade chip to get picks or another expiring or in a package with players to get a star.

If Norm picks up his option, waive and stretching him may still get you that max slot. Besides, I gotta think many teams would be clamoring to get a hold of him for only 1 year at 10.

more apt to say, we can give Ibaka what ever we want and rest to another free agent and stay under the tax.

we cannot split 20 million 3 ways.

So 10.4 Mil to Ibaka and 9.6 to MLE player and we can promise Ibaka to pay him well next year going into the tax to make up for his loss

I'm not a fan of complaining, but I will always complain about Toronto media not knowing anything :P

We can offer Ibaka practically anything, and then use the MLE for other players. I am not sure what the total value of the MLE is this year though. It can be split among multiple players as well, I think.

I'd be disappointed if we don't go into the tax a little bit this year (coronavirus be damned). We're not in danger of getting into repeater territory.

We cant give ibaka anything and then use full MLE

lets say ibaka at $16 give us 4 million till tax, we wont be able to use the full mle, only the tax level MLE

Ahh I see! Thank you for the correction.

How much of a difference between the full MLE and the tax level MLE?

I would imagine that beyond retaining our own guys, the players we would be looking to sign would in their own right be under the radar, possible diamond in the rough type guys. Hence my affinity for Noel, and more so Bismack Biyombo.

My prediction - Thompson and Giles to the raptors. Serge to the clippers.

I love this so much...lol

EDIT: Meaning the Celtics just let him walk. Sure they are out of his deal, but good. They didn't retain any assets for him, let alone Turner/Dipo.

Ewwww. This scrub is worth the minimum lol

George Hill was probably better for them. Even with DJ and OG Bobby Portis they're probably still worse/on par to last year.

I disagree. The Bucks and Giannis in particular have proven that regular season success mean squat and it's playoffs that count. Bledsoe was a complete dud in the playoffs for 2 years straight. The players coming in such as Holiday and Augustin have stepped up in the playoffs. As of now, the Bucks are a better playoff team than last season and this is what the Bucks need to get Giannis to re-sign.
