bruno is not a terrible pick at all...go check the databases and tell me how many 6'9 with 7'7 wingspan wings existed in basketball history, add in he moved very well and flashed a 3 pointer...and the deal breaker was he was only 18 on draft night

yes he didn't develop at all, but i dont blame the front office, how would they know that lol the kid was 18...20 isn't a low pick and not a high one either, it is kinda where you can start gambling

bruno was very unique and intriguing

Especially those toothpicks legs, no wonder he gets pushed off the spot on his finishing

I was worried the summer after the championship when Serge was posting all these tourist pics. I was afraid he wasn't working on his game. But he came back next season and was hitting 3s, middies and floaters like he was Trey Young. The guy had a work ethic. He was one of our secret weapons for that blessed 2019-2020 season.

Funny how his and Marc's bodies completely gave out after that season.

In terms of "defensive play style." Chomche is current day Tim Duncan.
Do Y'all see that is it just me? Sure, It has a long way to go, but I see it.
Style not Level.

Check out some Tim Duncan defense, I can see Chomche in some form of that + perimeter defense......you just got to give it time.
I don't know what percentage of this he'll get to, but that blueprint is there.

On the offensive side, he's like Mystery Box, a "re-boot" of an Archetype that fizzled out due to Injury/death/ or lack of playing time.....being too futuristic for it's era, so it get a "re-boot" in this era
including his NBA Africa play style, he's like a version of a "young high school" Jonathan Bender

I don’t care how many qualifiers you put on it, you can’t invoke Tim Duncan’s name when talking about Ulrich Chomche. You just can’t.

Why not? I'm not trying get people's hopes up in terms of level.
I'm just trying to show the play style.

Again, what version of Duncan? College level? high school level? Rookie level? Better than those?
I don't know, but I see it.

The Raptors signed him to a rare TWO-YEAR two way deal which means they don't expect clarity on his prospect floor and ceiling to emerge until that deal is done, so while I am encouraged, I am not investing much in his future except to watch him in games and measure his progress. Doesn't mean I am bearish on him, but it's not worth a huge debate yet.

“Chomche needs to work on his body.”

Spoken like a short person. Near 7’ height is already a genetic lottery win. Now you want height and developed at 19???? Cmon

And his body has improved since he was drafted.

You think he has toothpick legs for a teenager?

"Speaking facts" has become a euphemism for talking out of one's keister online. Go check the thickness of the legs of any 7 footer at that age. The majority are similarly twiggy. Its basic biology, building that muscle takes time.

So no, its not the "facts" anyone has a problem with. Its that your opinion lacks nuance and context.

Ibaka had a lot more muscle than Chomche at 19/20 years old.

Chomche will fill out though.

What play style? He tries to stop his man from scoring and also blocks shots?

Watch the movements, the processing (getting better), it'll take time, but look at some of little things first. He seem like a guy that'll never get discouraged, and Darko being his coach is like icing on the cake.

I can picture him playing a version of Tim Duncan's interior defence. Then the perimeter is were it gets even more Intersting.

I hope Darko tries a lineup in the preseason that includes
Scottie/Mogbo/CMB/Ulrich

On the fly offence, and swarming defence which you turn into extra offence.

I'm still not sure why Tim Duncan is the name you are using. If you think he'll only reach 5% of that (optimistic!), then what's even the point?

He's arguably the most fundamentally sound defensive player in NBA history, and Chomche is... not that.

Surely there's someone between Ulrich Chomche and a top 8ish all-time player (mostly for his defense) who would make for a more accurate comparison?

You know when people say "no one saw this coming."

I think that's what I'm seeing, I guess my brain just works differently.
