That would have been a terrible trade. KD is 36 and arguably worse than both Chet and Jalen at this point in his career (they have him beat or tied in almost every impact metric). KD couldn't even get the Suns into the play-in this year.

Your KD disdain is impressive. I'm not saying it's a good trade. I wouldn't do it either at his age. But blaming that Sun's team on KD is kinda sad.

Well its hard to make that call when your already looking like the best team in the league with the team you already have and you won 60+ games and some people saying they are having the best season ever....All to trade for a 36 year old KD where you would have to give up one of your best young players and a boat load of them picks...For a player that hasn't really helped a team get past many rounds in the playoffs as of late as well as not even making the playoffs with his current team....

Tough to do that....If im OKC im trying to win with this team i already built and already have chemistry with....Giannis is a different story though but i don't think Giannis is available.

Chris got a DNP-CD last game despite our record not mattering anymore.

Do they just hate the guy or something? I don't get it, man.

The Thunder should have an ability to make a trade for a superstar who plays both offense and defense if they become available - someone like a Giannis or AD before he was traded would be perfect. I have been a big fan of Durant for all of his career but this version of him isn’t the right player for OKC IMO. They can really trade for a player who can help on both ends. Presti has never made a bold move like this though so we’ll see.

I get what mdenny is saying. OKC has a competitive advantage right now because they have a few good young players on cheap contracts. That advantage will be gone soon and they will need to consolidate, putting them into the same situation as other top teams, with what I think is a questionable championship 3 of Chet, SGA and JDub.

When the playoffs hit, if all teams are healthy, this won’t be an easy run. I can easily see the Lakers, Denver, GS, etc beating them in a 7 game series as currently constructed. They rely very heavily on giving the ball to SGA and asking him to beat teams for them. Teams are going to scheme against that and I’m not sure JDub and Chet are there right now to be the support players SGA needs.

You can only trade for whats available....Giannis is not on the trade market.....No one who could really help them is on the trade market....They have the best team in the league going into the Playoffs....With a team still very young with an MVP on it....You have to give that team a chance....You can't just break them up because you "Assume" they are not good enough in the playoffs.....Sounds like a move an impatient GM would make....Its not like the core is on its last legs and its not like they are going to lose any of their big time players they have anytime soon...No one on their team is demanding to be traded....So why would they need to force a trade? They are one of the younger teams in the league with the best results in the league as of today....Give them a chance....Masai gave DD/Lowry lots of chances before we had to make a trade....This OKC teams ceiling is 100x more higher.

The people who control the contracts are smarter than Realgm people so im sure they will handle it....If trades need to be made they can make them....They have a boat load of draft picks....Hell they could get the 7th pick in this draft....All to add good talent on cheap contracts....Hell the bench mob was assembled by late first round picks when we had our bench...Presti has been a good drafting GM....Why can't they add young cheap talent that will be high end role players around The big 3 they have?....

The point is....they will be forced to consolidate in one of two ways. Either they keep their big 3 (which will cost them 140 million per year) and lose all their depth. Or they take the reigns and consolidate through trade so that they have 2 top 10 players instead of 1.

After everyone gets paid....their current roster will cost more than 200 million per year. Golden state was willing to go to such lengths in the past ie operating 60 million over the cap) but that was under the old rules.

All of that combined with the fact that they need an extra 10 roster spots to accommodate all their picks over the next 2 years......I mean, it would be truly inane for them not to make a consolidating trade.

As someone pointed out....it's true that you don't get to choose what players are on the trade market. But every season there are top 15 players who rotate on and off the market. I'd agree that Durant isn't the move.

The most blatant tank since the process. Beats the Hornets by a lot.

The Wizards somehow winning where they were down 4 with 8 seconds to go when they could have tied with the Jazz for last place is absolutely hilarious

It only took him 4 years of destroying the Jazz to finally finish last. Masterclass.

The historical difference in outcomes between the 5th and 6th overall picks is not statistically significant. It just seems like a big difference right now because we all get caught up in the draft media hype and player projections.

Even if the Jazz get Flagg and it's a big maybe, they're still gonna be rough for a while.

If they don't get Flagg, even more yikes.
