NBA market size - largest metropolitan areas

Many times on this board most seem to get annoyed by the "ignorance/hate" that many US reporters show when dissing TO as a large NBA market.
Here is a list of largest metropolitan areas in US and you can see how much an NBA franchise spends/wins regardless of direct market size:

interesting to see Spurs having so much success in such a small market. Even more respect to Pops and management.
I find TO area at 5.3 millions, so we should be 13th on the list...
When talking about Toronto, our beat writers refer to TO as the 4th largest/populous NBA market - how come?
Don't forget that Raps games are not televised on US national channels primarily since Raps suck as a team. That could change if we have a watchable product on the floor.
