"No More Euros"- A Clarification

I might not be speaking for everyone here, but when I say no more Euro's, I mean no more Euro's in the BC era, because he's obsessed with the soft, jumpshooting players in general.

For the people that get offended easily, admit it, BC hasn't gotten the right type of Euros. His last year's addition of Will Solomon looked good for 2-3 games, the rest it looked like a disaster. The only good one I can think of was Anthony Parker and Rasho, and that's about it. Rasho contributed a lot to this team, specially before the season he got traded to the Pacers. He stepped up when Bargnani played like ****.

For Andrea, he's a good SF/SG and that's about it. If he's our C for the coming years, we'll continue to suffer from the same problems. Hedo's just not used properly, and he'd probably be our best Euro acquisition in Raptor history if we got someone to push him to play better.

When people read that article about BC not giving up his formula, which hasn't worked, it got the fans even more agitated. Will he continue to get soft players and soft Euros to see his evolution of the game in action? That article indicates yes, and that's why people say "No more Euros."

If the Raptors want to build a European team, better do it some other way. One thing's for sure, the NBA game and the Euro game is completely different, so the GM must take that into consideration.

I hope this clarifies everything.

why not just write "no more soft players" what does it have to do with being euro or non euro. BC brought in Garbo - he wasnt soft -. Jason kapono wasnt euro but he was softest player we had + Jose was hear before BC came hear so he technically dint get him + players will Solomon and roko ukic are cheap dispensable players.

I didn't know taking more shots and turning the ball over more is the definition of playing better.

I don't think you need to clarify your opinion on Euros in the BC era, it's been clear as day for some time. I'm pretty sure no one ever confused you for a Euro lover, lol.

Take an example from the show "Recess" and invent your own term. Why don't you call them SJP's? That solves your problem.

Because BC tells Toronto that American players don't want to be here.

then he's just being honest cause if u look back at his PHX days - he didn't recruit a whole lot of euros, he started doing that once he came to Toronto. All im trying to say is it has nothing do do with a continent (Europe). i just want tough players regardless of where they are from and no soft players regardless of where there from.

and in terms of drafting players isnt Andrea the only European player BC drafted ( could be wrong)

I agree. The European look was cool while it lasted, but lets get some more players out of the NCAA than the Euroleague.

The problem I find is... The Euros we get are always the doodoo euros/international. People are always quick to point out gasol, dirk, manu. Guess what, they are of the good international players. We have the crappy ones --> Bargnani, Calderon, rasho, belli... By the way, Garbo is/was heavily overrated here. Wow. Now I liked Garbo, but the way BC and some people on this board talk about him, you'd think he was Rasho.

Anyways, what I find funny is BC probably planned this all along. I agree with the people who think BC planned. He knew he couldn't let bosh walk when bosh was like 23 (to let bargnani be the main guy), he would be the laughing stock of the league. Now is the perfect time to give a terrible player like bargnani, franchise status. Bosh is too expensive now for a team that sucks like ours. And it's even funnier that both BC and Bargnani are trying to sell to the fans that he's a franchise-type player. HAHAHHAHAHA.

How is this relevant? European players aren't any different by definition, there maybe cultural basketball differences, but as soon as a player enters the NBA, he has to adapt his game/raise his level.
Btw, fwiw, the European leagues are just as American as the NBA is European influenced, every team has a couple of Americans like NBA teams have a couple of Europeans.

You can 'play European style' basketball (whatever it may be, besides soft...) with 5 American starters, and 'hard-nosed American' brand of basketball with 5 'Euros' (yes really!).

He was the euro James Posey, that's it. If you want what Garbo brought, go get Posey because he'll give you the exact same game.

kk he wasn't garbage like POB level but damn Raps fans overrate this guy so much.....he wasn't as good as a defender or shooter like Posey.

Garbajosa is no Posey. He possessed skill to be a role player off the bench. He could have been a good role player off the bench for a team.

But Euro's is pretty stereotypical. Jump-shooters and defenseless players is what we have had enough of on this team. It just so happens they are Euro sometimes.

Posey had a better outside shot, Garbo actually had a mid-range game unlike Posey. Posey might be the better defender, that's subject to debate as Garbo only played one real season in the league and was pretty good. If Posey is better than he's barely better. Posey's a career 41% shooter and 35% from downtown, Garbo's only year that he actually played healthy he was 42% and 34% from down town. Extremely similar rebounding, steals, Assists and block numbers.

Just look at the comparison of the players during garbos one year

Yeah, cuz drafting guys like Chris Jefferies or Charlie Villanueva works out every time, doesn't it?

There are even more "soft" or "lazy" Americans in the league than there are European players.

If you don't want soft or lazy players then just fuggin say that. Don't cloud the issue and make yourself look like an ass with hyperbole, generalizations and put-downs, as many on here are wont to do.

This board has been extremely disappointing over the last week or so.
