Only $500K of West's 4.5 mil contract is guaranteed for next season. A bunch of guys like Parker, Moon, Powe and Telfair all expire next summer. Nothing too spectacular but at least there is potential to dump the Hedo and Jose contracts and maybe flip the expirings into assets.

I don't think the Cavs win anything with Bosh, LeBron, Hedo, and Jose so why would CB4 agree to go there and be LBJ's 2nd banana?

~$25 million dollars in expiring contracts for next summer and a likely top 10 pick in next year's draft.

I like the top 10 pick but where do you get $25 mill in expiring contracts? Is this under the assumption Turk gets traded for a similar deal to come of the books in 11-12?

Telfair = $3 million
Dunleavy = $10 million
Banks = $5 million
Evans = $5 million
Belinelli = $2 million

That's $25 million, but the numbers might be a little bit off cause this is just off the top of my head. And I'm assuming Hedo is traded for some equally crappy contract.

Jack/Telfair/Bradley/Banks
Dunleavy/Rush/Belinelli
Hedo/Weems/DD
Bargs/Amir/Evans/Dorsey
Varejao

+ An additional first round pick (Whiteside or Alabi or some C)

If you add in Hedo's trade it's too many players, unless you keep Hedo. Then you could waive Banks and Dorsey I suppose and Belinelli could be traded to some team with a little cap space (could be included with cash for a late first rounder?). It was just something that was off the top of my head. There's def a potential for a three way, because I think Mo Williams and Hickson would be two guys that have some value. I just don't want them here.

Only way I deal with the Cavs is if Turk and Jose are included.

I'd love Andy on this team.

I dissed the contract he got, but honestly the way he defended last season, he deserves it. He can play the 5 or the 4.

A move like this makes Amir redundant, especially if you are getting back Hickson and if he wants big buck.

Then get Mo to play the point.

Courtside wrote:Ooh - interesting. I'd actually consider Bosh + crap for Shaq + value if he still had one year left and was agreeable to coming.

I think it's not possible for Cleveland to do this - not because it would be for a trade - but it that the guarantee has to be for a certain percentage of the deal, or that it can't be in the first year if it's a team re-signing their own FA. Damp will be in his 5th year, if I'm not mistaken.

I think it's different for minimum salary players signed on one year or 1+1 deals... like 2nd rounders or call-up from NBDL, so a guy like Joey Dorsey could sign a 1 year deal with only a partial guarantee.

Further - Shaq has to actually sign the contract - which could interfere with him being able to go out and get a legitimate one.

Dagger? KrazyP?

Yes, but Shaq would have to sign a 3 year deal (only 1st year guaranteed) and he has to have intention or reporting to TO (he can't just "retire" and collect the cheque).

Cleveland sends:
S&T Shaq @ 25 million
Anderson Varejao

for

Toronto Sends:
Bosh + Hedo + Calderon

Toronto buys out Shaq, he returns to Cavs..

Toronto gets to rebuild...
Cleveland keeps Lebron.

Cleveland:
Mo Williams/Jose Calderon
Lebron James/Anthony Parker
Hedo Turkoglu/Jamario Moon
Chris Bosh/Antawn Jamison
Shaquille O'Neal/Big Z

Salary cap hell but who cares.

There the same player with different mentalities.

Jose likes the ball in his hands creating the offense.

Mo likes to be more off the ball or creating a shot.

I think Mo fits better with Hedo.

That's my issue, we'll need playmakers.

Jack's not efficient at running the offense, DD is an off-ball guy and Bosh is gone.

Bargs will obviously be getting a chance to force up every shot he can dream of but we'll need someone around to create plays....and Mo doesn't do that lol.

Which also concerns me about Bradley as one of the knocks is his distributing abilities.
