I can see Cleveland getting desperate and acquiring the biggest name they can (my money is on Iguodala). There is plenty of talent out there, however.

You don't have to use the full TPE in a potential trade.

So Miami is content to build their team with minimum contracts and MLEs over the next 5 years? I didn't think they even any more draft picks to give up.

Isn't there a rule against trading away this many first rounders? is this going to potentially impact the draft choices we get back from miami?

You can't trade consecutive draft picks, so Miami has lost their '11, '13, and '15 first rounders. I'd rather have that '15 first rounder and bank on Bosh and Wade being broken by then.

I thought because of the Cavs back in the day you couldn't trade two first rounders in a row? I didn't think you could even trade first rounds that far in advance if they are giving up every other year to us and Cleveland.

I'm not worried about the Cavs getting a TPE, I'm worried about what the Cavs are getting back from the Heat. The Heat don't have very many assets remaining. Just some picks and Mario Chalmers.

Edit: NVM, seems like the Raptors-Heat sign and trade has already been finalized.

They can't give up picks in consecutive years so Raps will get 2011 and Cavs 2013 and 2015...

Me I'd rather have the 2011 pick before their team gel and they can add an MLE + an LLE player next year. The 2011-2012 and so on Heat will be a scary team...

Absolutely right, but if Utah and Phoenix only want to use half of theirs, than they are going to be looking at (hopefully) different players than the Raptors will be.

The "Seven Year Rule" allows teams to trade draft picks up to seven years into the future (for example, if this is the 2008-09 season, then a 2015 pick can be traded, but a 2016 pick cannot).

TPE's are automatically generated for the difference in the trade amount. It isn't something the other team can "choose" to give.

I dunno why Jonn there is adamant that the Raptors arent getting a TPE, he has been trying to shut down a TPE scenario all day despite people trying to guide him to the Sticky. Maybe he is in denial.

Either he just really loves his own ignorance or he's a troll.

Don't the heat now have Minnesota's pick from the Beasley trade?
I would assume that would be turned over to CLE.

hope they get atleast something back because i feel bad for Cleveland losing LeBron but hopefully it doesnt affect our TPE like other poster's mentioned.

i wonder what cleveland will get back in a sign and trade. other than the 2 first round picks that are coming to us Miami doesnt have alot of assests to offer

'Twas a second rounder. Not bad for a guy who Riley was going to build around last week.

no MIN has the option of swapping picks in 2013. so if by any chance min is better than miami in 2013, otherwise beasely was traded for nothing,

What would our TPE be worth right now after the CLE trade?

we both will have the same tpe, but since many teams have a tpe, raptors wont have as much leverage compared to if they were the only ones with a tpe
