Right now on Around the Horn they were talking about the jays and the almost no hitter yesterday........but it wasn't about the jays it was about the rays and the fact that opposing teams have a 50% chance to get a no hitter....fine

BUT THEN RIGHT AFTER THEY TALKED ABOUT THE RAPS AND NETS IN LONDON ON MARCH 4 AND 5

BUT THEY DIDN'T TALK ABOUT THE RAPTORS.... IT WAS MORE ABOUT THE NJN...THE RAPTORS WERE ONLY MENTIONED LIKE 3 TIMES

AND ON TOP OF THAT WHEN THEY SHOWED A CLIP OF THE RAPTORS THEY SHOWED A CLIP OF JAMARIO MOON
LIKE WTF HE DOESNT PLAY FOR OUR TEAM ANY MORE

YOU CAN SHOW BARGS OR DEROZAN BUT NOT A PLAYER THAT DOESN'T PLAY FOR US AND HASN'T FOR THE PAST LIKE 2 SEASONS

what do you guys think?

John Wall himself is a bigger deal to the NBA than the Toronto Raptors as a whole. I don't see the issue

The educational system in the USA is possibly the worst in the civilized world. Many Americans, even well educated ones, know little about anything that goes on anywhere but home. That's the root of the problem. Other than that, I have nothing but praise for the american people.

+1 to Eductation system comment.....thats it in a nutshell. Plus we don't allow people to carry hand guns and require garbage to be put into the garbage can rather than the street. That alone is enough to make one jealous.

Its really not resent, it's that they really don't know any better. They are patriotic to a point where its' USA or bust. A lot of Americans cannot locate Toronto, or even some of their own states if given a blank map with the outlines on it... It starts with the education.

It's cause the Raptors and Jays suck big time balls. If we had a good team they would talk about us. It's pretty simple really. You people keep thinking that there is some prejudice against Canadian teams. Stop blaming everyone else for our teams **** and start blaming the people who own them like MLSE and Rogers.

I think this is it. If you're working for the media, it's always the easy way out to accentuate how "they" are "different" from "us" and keep emphasizing that point by detailing how that difference affects "them," usually in a negative way. Otherwise, what else can you really talk about Toronto? It's a nice city in the northern region, kinda like smaller New York or Chicago or bigger and better Minnesota. But that's not fun. For the same token when the media talk about Korea or Israel, what do you see? You immediately think of the crazy North Korea regime and Middle Eastern conflicts. However you rarely hear, at least not on front page, how well they've been doing in advanced technologies, or how their daily life is because they aren't as news worthy or sensational as the conflicts.

On a tangential note, in "Understanding Comics," Scott McClouds points out that in some form of comics, protagonists are often drawn less distinctively than the enemies, because it's easier to identify with a vague form of human features while detailed emphasis of features tend to make us think those characters aren't like us. Wait, I don't know what I'm writing anymore so I'll stop.

Why are Canadian media always reporting about the Raptors and not about other NBA teams? Canadian media must hate the American teams.

No way we don't hate anyone. Were way too nice. I bet if one American person called like TSN or Fan590 and expressed his concerns about there being not enough coverage for American sports all our networks would do 24/7 Nascar, Tiger Woods watch, Miami Heat talk everyday, US swimming nationals...
