Still way more than it should cost to watch the Raptors, specifically the terrible squad this year. I don't know how MLSE can justify these prices for such a terrible franchise. Who do they think the Raptors are...the Leafs!?

+1. Unfortunately there are still people who would pay to see the crap product. Hence MLSE is not doing anything about it. Its supply and demand basically. I also believe in some cases they make you buy Raptors tickets if you want Leafs tickets

I have cancelled season tickets to Raptors.

You're not paying to see crap product, you're paying to see some great players - albeit mostly on the opposing team. I'm a recovering STH, but it was largely other issues (saving the world, young kids) that stopped me from renewing this season.

These prices are basically STH prices, and if you think $29 is too much to see a game live, well I don't know what to say to you.

This thread so far has indicated to me the actual percentage of people who actually enjoy basketball in the Rap's market. About 20%. Or maybe poor. Wait, it could be that you're too poor to pay for live basketball, which is excusable for sure. But the implication that you only pay for winning teams is pretty weak. Is that also the reason the majority of the market had to believe that Bosh was an MVP to get people to show up and care?

when someone's offering a discount off of face prices, why would you come on that thread just to bash?

seriously...don't be ungrateful.

..but you still watch them on TV (including the commercials) and post on the Raptors' board, right?

I have $29 tickets available for most of those games. And they are row 3 -6 ...not 15-18.

I was not trying to belittle the efforts of the individuals invovled in orchestrating this "season ticket holders price" for us RealGMers.

My point was that it is dishearting that MLSE feels as though it can continuously charge a premium price, for such a continuously subpar product. It has been happening forever with the Leafs (especially since the Teachers became the majority owner) and it is happening now with the Raptors. The Raptors have not put a quality product on the court since Garbajosa's first season. Don't even get me started on the Leafs.

I split my time between Toronto and Ottawa. Fortunately I have the means if I so choose to go out to watch the Raptors or Leafs rather regularly. I haven't seen the Leafs in Toronto in 3 years, but yet I've made it to every Leafs-Sens game in Ottawa over that period. The reasoning is simple, cost of the product. I can sit 5 rows back of the glass and watch my terrible Leafs play for what it would cost to sit in the nosebleeds in the ACC. When (If) the Leafs get competitive, I will have no problem ponying up to go watch them in the ACC (my preferred destinantion).

Sure, the Raptors don't have a competitor in their marketplace, which has always been the strongpoint of this franchise. It has lead the Raptors to have one of the absolute most die-hard fanbases in the NBA, and a strong presence all across Canada. What MLSE has failed to provide in a long time is a competitive product that it can justify it's tickets costs with.

My next suggestion, group discounted pitchers at Real Sports!

there's a cost to running an NBA team.
if you want $10 tickets, then there really is something wrong with your team.
and its a tough balance (and a great mathematical equation) to figure out how to have a high enough price to ensure profitability while, at the same time, not alienating your fanbase.

Where's Kyphi when you need her? Watching the Raps has never been more affordable! :eyebrows:

There is a difference between ensuring your bottom line, and ensuring a profit for stakeholders.

You summarize what I wrote by saying I want $10 dollar tickets. You couldn't be more wrong. I want two competitive franchises.

Thanks for the ticket promotion...I already have a pack and partial seasons, but hey, always nice to know that someone is giving discounts when they should be :)

He is telling the truth. Sorry for speaking our mind. If you guys want to support the raptors by buying season tickets and other stuff go ahead but dont tell us to do the same.

I was a season tickets holder for close to six years I was patiently waiting for MLSE to put a competitive team (I am not asking for championship) just guys who give their best everyday. MLSE did that in 2006/2007 which gave me false hope and it has been downhill since then. I just got sick of MLSE's crap and decided not to renew I know there will be others who will be glad to take my tickets. Unfortunately nothing will change until more people take a stance

Sorry to other posters Kudos to Realgm for the discounted ticket prices.

Typical

AB puts up a good game, posters bash him on something he didn't do through the course of it.

Someone offers a discount on tickets, someone bashes it because the price isn't free.

Wow, you either skimmed every post made in this thread and decided to post your response, or are just terrifically unintelligent.

In the past when the Raptors (or Leafs) have been competitive, I've had zero issue ponying up the dough. We live in one of the largest metropolitan cities in North America, I'm fine with paying subsequent prices.

To summarize (because obviously few have decided to actually read the posts), if MLSE wants to charge a premium price, start providing a premium (or somewhat competitive) product. Don't expect me, or fans in general, to pay top dollar for the product MLSE has been content with providing for years. Obviously this is more of a case with the Raptors, as the Maple Leafs are sold-out before the season starts regardless.

do you need to insult a poster? public warning. Yogi

I guess we're going to disagree over the definition of premium pricing. Now, if this was the best team in the NBA I still wouldn't pay for courtside tickets, that's priced for a different market. But there are so many discounts out there right now that very few are paying premium prices as I would define them.

Here's one for all Friday games:

For our Twitter followers, special $29 ticket offer for tonight's game!! Link: http://is.gd/iUdrH Password: RAPS

Virtually every discount out there is in the range of 20-30%, lower through unofficial channels. There are two for one deals that represent 50% off for a pair. Buy from a scalper once the game has started and you might do even better. At half time, or earlier, move down from the upper bowl to the lower bowl.

If you get hung up on face pricing, of course it seems steep. If you don't want to go because the team isn't winning, that's your business. If you'd rather buy a big screen TV or have an overseas travel adventure instead, that's marvellous. Maybe you even want to invest a few more dollars. No need to explain, but some of us believe that the product is worth the discounted prices we're paying, whether it's because we appreciate the competitiveness of this team most nights or the quality of the opponent, like the chance to see the game's best player.

I havent stepped in a movie theatre for at least a decade. Not even once. I get everything I want on Blu Ray and the Movie Channels. That doesn't mean that I consider the price to see a movie on a large screen exorbitant, even though some movies just don't live up to the marketing once you see it. That doesn't make the movie industry exploitive or overpriced because they charge some of you "premium prices" to see a movie that ISN'T Oscar nominated.

Either you go, or you don't go, but don't belittle those who do because like a movie, different people have a different appreciation for the same game.

I wonder if there would be a RealGM Appreciaition if the team was winning.
