I don't mind Bibby + an expiring for Calderon + Dorsey, but the only Hawks expiring is Jamaal Crawford (not a big) at $10 million.

Bibby + Pachulia?
Bibby + Marvin Williams?

Seems like the only way the deal works is if we add long term salary. Which I guess makes sense because it's the only way Atlanta would swap Bibby for Calderon.

So Zaza has 2 more years after this one but it's not too bad, just over $5 mil per which is decent for a back up big.

I'd do Jose + Dorsey for Zaza + Bibby.

Edit: Ideally we get a pick or Teague who I was very high on out of the draft

Bibby+Marvin for Jose+Kleiza also works in the checker and isnt bad for both teams.

Do not sign me up. Who is going to create their own offense? Horford would be awesome beside Bargs, but w/o Bargs he would be a good defensive centre that needs an offensive PF to play off. Would that be Davis? Or Amir? Or Joey? Or Reggie? I like his game, but losing Bargs for him is illogical.

The only thing that is throwing me off is that he mentioned both teams waived players today.

That makes me think it's more then a two for two deal and that it may be a deal involving a third player or a third team. Neither team would of had to waive anyone if it was a two for two deal.

Zaza doesn't get enough respect in this league - I wouldn't mind getting him on this team.

In the trade predictions thread, I predicted Jose would be traded in order to make room for Bayless to get more playing time. I said I think BC is high on Bayless and wants to develop him more. If this trade goes down, I think it's partly about sheading salary but also most definitely about handing the keys over to J-Bay. What do we have to lose? We're not going anywhere this season anyway, and this season would signify that BC is dedicated to the rebuilding process.
I noticed a lot of Raps-related trades on the trade board are centered around Barbosa, but I can see BC trying to move Jose over Leandro. Barbossa and BC have a history, of course, and BC loves his combo guards. Plus, Barbosa is much younger than Jose and less injury-prone.

You wouldn't do that deal? Wow. We'd essentially become a more traditional team where we'd probably look for our offense from our perimeter while our interior protects the rim. And Horford's offensive game is developing quite nicely as well.

Obviously trading bargs for horford doesn't instantly make us playoff contenders but we can build through the draft with a traditional (yet short) C, rather than awkwardly trying to accomodate for Bargnani's all offensive, no defensive play

My only concern with Zaza is that it gives us a crowded frontcourt even if we are expecting a Reggie trade.

BC might have a trade lined up for one of Amir/Ed/Bargs? .... woops did i say Bargs ;) i meant Amir or Ed 8-) 8-)

Bibby is at 5.76
Calderon is at 9.00

Atlanta has to add something to get within 25%, buy they also want to make sure they don't take on more then $1.4M of additional salary this year to stay under the lux tax.

2 Options Seems to be
a) Add Maurice Evans - 2.5M expiring and call it a day.

Then the Raps would also save about $3.5M of cap space next year as well.

b) I can see the Hawks adding Zaza Pachulia, so they only have to take on about $5M extra salary in 2012/2013 (4.2,4.7,5.2). I guess a Scrub Big to fill his roster spot like Dorsey would then work.

I am not that excited by option b)

Let me put my speculation hat on:

Calderon makes 9m
Bibby makes 5.5m

Jason Collins can't be traded without his permission,
Etan Thomas, Pape Sy, and Josh Powell all make sub 1m.

Atlanta is $39,787 shy of the tax threshold, so they are not adding salary.

Bibby + ZaZa = 9.81m
Calderon + Dorsey = 9.85m

Dropping them into the tax.

However, Calderon for Bibby + ZaZa would save them .81m right now.

I hate Bibby, but I also hate the idea of paying Jose $20M for the next 2 seasons after this.
I doubt we're getting Zaza, he's a pretty key piece for them.

20 Leandro Barbosa G 6-3 202 11/28/1982 Sau Paulo, Brazil 7
8 Jose Calderon G 6-3 210 09/28/1981 Villanueva de la Serena, Spain 5

He's actually only a year younger.

First, thanks for posting Ozzy.

I hope this goes down. I'd do Bibby + Zaza for Calderon in a second. I'd then probably look to move both Bibby and Zaza but I don't think it would be that difficult.

Waiving guys today doesn't mean anything. It's 10 day contract season.
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.
