So it's Lin or bust for Houston right?
If the Knicks match, I guess Toney Douglas, who can play the 1/2, will be their starter unless they make a trade.
They got Livingston and Boykins as point guards but between those two, neither qualify as a starter, you can argue they are not even rotational players anymore.

Head-scratcher of a signing. How many undersized guards do the Kings have?!? And how many guys are or could play PG's? Isiah Thomas started last season. Then you've got Tyreke Evans who has started in the past and Jimmer Fredette who they've been trying to turn into a PG! Between those 3 I'm sure the PG position would be covered. Marcus Thornton is undersized at the 2.

We started our rebuild the same time the Kings did and they're kicking our a$$ so far.

The only PG on that team worth a damn is Thomas, and he's not a full time starter. The Kings desperately needed a starter calibre player with range, which Brooks gives them. The question does remain - how do he and Evans share the ball, considering both prefer to have the ball in their hands in order to be their most effective selves? If they can figure that out, it's a very nice move. I actually think they can do it. Both guys have put up good assist numbers. Evans' driving abilities should open up kickouts for Brooks.

They had 22 wins last year, and 24 wins the year before. They're not kicking anyone's a$$.

A trade should be coming up. They have Jimmer, Isiah, Tyreke, Aaron Brooks, Thornton, and Salmons. Way too many guards

Brooks is a major steal at 3.3M a year. His last year as a full-time starter he won Most Improved Player and put up some outstanding numbers, e.g. led league in 3's made, 20 ppg. A great signing.
I thought Brooks was no worse than our 3rd best PG option in free agency, excluding Deron, with Nash first and Dragic a hair in front of Brooks due to his size. But Brooks has played better than Dragic over a larger sample size, so it's a close one.
Looks like Kings could trade Tyreke for some an upgrade at SF.

I don't think I'm one to usually panac and be all "OMGZ where was BC on that one???", but there have been some great deals on backup PGs late in free agency, CJ Watson now Aaron Brooks. Seeing as that is a need once Jose is dealt I hope we did our due dilligence.

Re: OT: Aaron Brooks signs 2-year deal with Kings
I think Brooks is definitely starter material, but he signed for backup money. That's the sweet part of the deal. His 3.3M is less than Bayless's qualifying offer was. That's crazy for someone as talented as Brooks. He started 82 games for Houston in 2009-2010.
If none of the big deals were possible, then we could've definitely used a couple of smaller deals. We will be okay on the wing, but Center and PG had/have to be addressed. We could've gotten Haywood for peanuts via the amnesty and Brooks for 3.3M. Those are major bargains and win-now moves, which for better or for worse we are in win-now mode.
