I know he's not popular around here, especially from his days with the Nets, but he might be somebody that could be available, possibly for Kleiza + Amir, or something. He's been a great 3 pt shooter last of couple of seasons, over 40% in both '10 and '11.
It's a good idea, but we'd be taking on like 11,000,000 next year because he has a player option. kleiza and Amir equal his salary but they'd be taking the contracts on for longer. What's in it for Golden State? I mean, unless they really like Amir....
I think Calderon plus Davis would be better for them and for us (they give us Tyler Ennis). They get an expiring contract for a position we need and we get rid of the glut of players at this point. Ennis doesn't need to play really right now. Davis is never going to play enough minutes here, and we are clearly trying to win now. Getting Jefferson would hold down the position for a few years until Ross is ready. We are capped out anyway next year with the Derozan contract. He's really overpaid but at least he can space the floor and defend hard.
Val/Gray/Amir
Bargs/Amir/ Kleiza
Jefferson/Fields/Kleiza
Demar/Ross/Fields
Lowry /Lucas/ maybe the Canadian point guard who almost made the squad from summer league?
is a nice, balanced team. Maybe tops out at a second round exit. Not bad. How good they become depends on Jonas, Lowry , Bargs and Demar. But at least they'll have some damn lanes to drive in to.
