I was shocked when I saw the stat sheet. He did nothing really special in the game but somehow ended up with 18 assists. I have to admit that Calderon is one of the greatest statpadders.

He did do something special in the game and that was make nifty inside passes, throw alleyoops, and push the ball forward. He was moving well with the ball today and passing it for a good shot.

watch the game you hater. He was kicking it to open shooters...the shots went in...that is an assist... he dumped it to people cutting to the basket...that is an assist

Jose plays a style of game thats very conducive for him to get assists & numbers. He doesn't really create easy baskets. Pound the rock until the shot clock is running down, force a teammate to take a desperation shot/heave and if you do it all game long, every possesion for 40 minutes, you'll eventually end up with 10 assists.

Rondo just put on his jersey with a Calderon make-up on his face.

The Raptors are designed to Jose's strengths. He has 3 good PnR partners in Val, Amir, Ed and then Bargnani for PnP. He's also surrounded by players that attempt the first shot they can get (which is a team mentality).

With Jose dribbling the ball most of the time and guys shooting it right away rather then making 2-3 extra passes, he's able to rack up assists. He's similar to Rondo in that sense, except Rondo will use his ability to get into the lane to create from time to time.

Imagine if it were the other way around? Oh wait.........no reason to imagine. We've seen how it turns out.

He had a great game, but you must take into consideration he had 90% or more of our assists meaning we lack playmakers.

Jose's game today was carbon copy of Rondo's game yesterday. People loved Rondo yesterday but hate Jose today. Jose just cannot win.

The sooner Lowry comes back the better, but you have to admit Calderon is playing some of the best basketball in his career. Obviously his numbers will go down when Lowry is back, but I hope Calderon keeps this up.

Then you should probably refrain from making stupid posts. I'm not a big fan of Jose, but there's no doubt that he was very effective today with his passing. He could have had even more assists, if there were some better finishes inside.
