Raptors Front Office

So what is going on with the f.o.? MU was appointed more then a month ago and so far it's him, a capoligist, a scout (both of whom either just started on the first or have yet to start as there is no mention of them on the Raps' website yet). Jeff Weltman has been rumoured to join the staff "after the draft", which was thought to be the 1st, but there's been absolutely no mention or announcement to date. He is still listed as the Bucs' asst. GM on their web site. Is it somebody else that's going to be Masai's right hand man? Then we have one of the worst head coaches in the league, with apparently no assistant coaches.

We went through the draft with Masai being "assisted" by TL, LT , Embry (don't get me started on him) and Casey.

Free agency is now in full swing but still no h.o. to speak of. Summer league is starting in 10 days. Who is coaching the team (as it's usually one of the assistants who coaches the team)? Is Marc Eversley still with the team (he is not mentioned on the web site). Is Dan Tolzman going to be our only scout?

Are we handcuffed trying to "assess" our team, compete for free agents with a skelton staff? What's taking so long to assemble a front office, especially now that we are into July and contracts are over?

Weltman's expected to officially join the staff this week. So is assistant coach Nick Nurse.

I dunno, it seems like Masai is just sitting on his ass doing nothing at all. [/green]

I think Masai said he'd go with a skeleton staff. A game theorist would be cool.

There has been mentions.

Weltman will join the Raptors this week as Ujiri’s right-hand man in the front office. He was technically a Bucks employee through Thursday’s draft, but was not in either team’s war room.

The Raptors have other moves to make, but another that will be coming soon will be the hiring of Nick Nurse, as Casey’s assistant in charge of the offence.

Okay thanks I don't read the Sun. So is Wolstat the only one reporting this? I've not seen any other sources.

its been reported for 3 **** weeks that right after the draft weltman is coming over, there are many many many sources everywhere about it, but none recently because hes an assistant office worker, there wont be a press release or something.

Blame our local beat writers for not getting any inside scoops until news is already official

Really, he's and assistant office worker...you mean someone like Bobby Webster who was announced in a press release? Or maybe Ed Stefanaski who had a press release. I could go on but it's not worth it.

And smartass, ...right afer the draft which was 5 days ago.

 Any kind of game theory would be an improvement, from coaching to economics.

Its interesting to me that they have updated the site with Masai Ujiri and others, but they still have Tom Anselmi as President and COO of MLSE.

I do note that Eversley is gone.

At the moment, the Raptors front office officially consists of Masai, Fruitman, and Mahlalela (who?)

EDIT: Noticed also that at the moment, the Raptors front office includes 0 people with the title "scout"

Leiweke hasn't been added. But BC is gone. Rucker isn't on the basketball list right now. Not sure if he ever was. The assistant coaches are still there, including Eric Hughes who was just hired by the Nets.

That's why I found it interesting the Weltman is still listed as Asst. GM on the Bucs' site. You would think they would have removed him asap as the Nuggets did with Masai and Tolzman.
