Rudy Gay concerns

Okay, this is getting a bit out of hand but what the hell is happening with Rudy Gay?

I understand one bad shooting night but he is having this over and over again.

Whoever in the raptors organization told this sack of shi* to work on gaining his weight screwed it all up.

I'm extremely concerned that he's:

1) Essentially untradeable
2) Going to be forced to pick up his monster option

Someone needs to teach Rudy how to protect the ball when he drives.

Scary thought: imagine what Gay's numbers would look like if he wasn't exceeding his career 3PT make rate by almost 50 points.

He's too fat.

It was obvious from day one of camp in that intrasquad game when he shot 6 of 25, and everyone said we were jumping to conclusions. He looks like he's lost speed, agility, and explosiveness, and on top of that he's now struggling mentally and forcing things.

Thanks coach!

I think number 2 is a given. There's no way he'll walk away from 18 million on the table after a horrible season.

i'm more worried about number 1. We need to trade him asap but it looks like teams are probably walking away from even discussing a Rudy Gay trade given how bad he's playing lately

His closer mid range shots around 5-10 Feet are awful. It's almost as bad a % as his long twos.

Igoudala could afford to opt out of his final year in a max contract to get a long-term re-up on a competitive team. Not sure if winning teams would really go for Rudy Gay... its hard to justify paying him 13-14m a year since he seems to have more holes in his game than positives

I hate that Casey is "forced" (by his own stupidity) to play Novak at the 4 just so we can pamper Gay.

This team would look a lot better with Novak starting at the 3. Gay's defence may be solid but he's become a black hole on offence & the turnovers are inexcusable. The fact that Casey doesn't make Gay play within himself just adds insult to injury. We need an alpha male Head Coach not one who's afraid to tell a player what's up.

hes at his best when u gets good solid position cus of his size, then makes simple strong moves to basket or getting off a easy close shot

but he rarely does this

instead, he dances around past 3 pt line all the time, handling and fancy dribbling his way to nothing most the time...i dont know why he refuses to make his game nice and simple and productive...rudy gay makes basketball so hard for himself, and he doesn't have to

I really think it's the added weight. How many missed dunks and lack of finish have we seen around the hoop. This guy was explosive even just last year. Now he can't even beat a slow defender with the dribble.

The sad thing is he will lose that "muscle" As the season goes on and probably round back into shape, I just have a feeling it will be after we've already traded low on him to another team.

I think it comes down to his motor, some nights he relentlessly looks to score. Nights like tonight he looks like he's not even trying.

My main concern with this team is the bench and the coach. There's no offense coming from the bench, Ross is the best option but even he isn't a go-to scorer a second unit can rely on. Then there's the concern with Casey who doesn't seem to execute plays on offense, it's all about moving the ball and going one-on-one which is easy to stop for good defensive teams.

Solution: Make some trades to either blow up the roster or improve it, what we have right now is a typical 9th seeded team.
