I honestly think with a fair referee crew this would be a really good series that could go either way. However, we all know the NBA wants to see a Nets/Heat 2nd round matchup for ratings purposes. This series is most likely going to have all the games come down to the final stretch, and this is where the Raptors don't succeed in. We lack a true closer, and I still have that OKC game in my head where we were up by like 8+ with less than 1 minute left. Anyways, the point is it will be a shame if the referees screw the Raptors the way I think they're going to. For those of you that don't know about referee rigging, it definitely exists and you don't need Tim Donaghy to tell you so. Luckily the instant replay was added this season to review calls, but that doesn't change the refs from calling a foul that clearly wasn't one.


Update: Game 1 = Horrible officiating (Even though we played like sh*t)
Game 2 = 1st half was officiated decent, 2nd half you could tell the fix was in for screwing the Raptors.
Luckily the Raptors outplayed Brooklyn.
Game 3 = The fix was definitely in on this game.

I dont understand this. Have the playoffs started? Have you seen bad calls? This is why some of you make us look bad. Say this when it actually happens. You guys saying we will lose cause of the refs makes us look like pussies.

It will put LAL vs SAC 2002 to shame.

Well Pierce is a pretty big flopper. Now that he's a senior I'm sure he'll go down even easier.

As long we can avoid Violet Palmer and Marc Lewis, we should only be outshot 1.5:1 at the FT line and have 3 or 4 bogus calls per game. If they are in, expect those numbers to go up slightly.

Last time I watched Raps-Nets game, refs favored aggressive Raps style of play. Kirilenko was beaten badly, there were number of questionable or plain wrong no calls against the Nets. And most of this board was delusional about how refs were unfair to Raps. Just go watch that game again with clear mind, and knowing the outcome. Most of the time, this anti Raps refs talk is pure gibberish.

The NBA sometimes works like the WWF when theres a compelling story to get across. Brooklyn = big market and their roster is littered with vets (some of them previous champions) that want one last hurrah to show their worth.

Its not gauranteed but there is a good chance the refs will be biased in favour of the Nets. Thats the way things worked in Sterns NBA....hopefully things will be different now that he is gone.

It will be terrible...to the point you may punch the tv or someone in frustration but I am prepared for this, we are the Raptors we are the outsiders, we are from north of the wall

I'm more worried about the refs than our actual opposition. The game we won against Brooklyn on the Patterson buzzer beater was in spite of some clearly biased officiating. It's only going to get worse in the playoffs.

We will have to overcome the reffing if we're truly a team of destiny.

The NBA will want a Brooklyn vs Miami semi-finals for TV ratings.

The Raptors are screwed.

If I had to give the Raptors 1 advice, it's to watch out for pump fakes. Old players like to pump fake a lot.

I have a feeling it will be really bad .... even the last Miami-Brooklyn game's reffing was super iffy .... i just pray they are fair too us

Refs have been fair to us lately. I just hope they don't call Lowry for phantom fouls and I hope he doesn't whine to them all game

Pierce worries me though, he seems to be able to get a call any time he wants by just running into crowds and flailing
