Your rookie scale salary for BeBe is off. And both rookie scale guys will surely sign for 120% - listing their cap hold makes sense when calculating cap space, but when looking at what you have to spend under the tax, better to list their actual salaries.

Also note that while Lowry's deal averages 12M, and may indeed be a flat 12M, we don't know that for sure, and his current year salary could vary between 10.8M and 13.5M. So ultimately, assuming Buycks and Stone are waived, we're looking at potentially as little as 11.8M left to sign the rest before hitting the tax.

Technically, it is the apron, the line 4M above the tax, that determines whether you use the full MLE or the tax payer's MLE.

I agree though that I doubt ownership spends info the tax this year. Would not be an intelligent investment I don't think.

Correct me if I'm wrong but we are allowed to go over the cap to re-sign GV and 2pat and still use our MLE right? Also, how much can we afford to give GV+2pat if we still want enough cap space to make a max offer the following year?

whats Bebe's then? This is where i got his rookie scale

Shamsports has his rookie scale at $1,468,900

We dont know what they will sign for, they can sign for as little as 80% of the rookie scale or as much as 120% we just dont know. If we contribute to Bebe's buyout i could see Masai offering him 80% of the rookie scale. Regardless its not a lot different, maybe a few thousand not a difference of 2.2 million like you listed.

Oh ok thanks. But even if we were to hit the tax we'd pay it for one year and then only have somewhere between 35-40 million in contracts for the following off-season. Then again, that extra 5 million could do wonders if we're looking to add a max level guy next off-season.

correct on the 1st part.

to answer the 2nd part i dont know. Depends what Lowrys year 2 number is and what Vasquez & Patterson sign for. To give you a ballpark number if Vasquez & Patterson take 4.5 & 5.5 respectively that would leave us at around 47 million (lowry at 12, Demar, Novak, Val, Ross, Bruno, Bebe, 2015 1st, Vasquez at 4.5, Patterson at 5.5).

Should be enough for max cap space.

well roughly i project 47 million the following year if you read my post above. It would still likely be enough for max cap space with todays cap thats 16 million. I also expect us to shed Novaks 3+ million contract to allow for more flexibility. I think thats the plan though is to be big players in next years FA class (Love, Millsap, Aldridge, etc).

I don't get the love for VC as an SG/SF on this team, honestly. I think the better move is to aim for Patterson and lock him up because even slightly overpaid a stretch 4 that can literally do anything else is valued in the NBA, and then see what GV gets in the open market and whether we want to match it or whether he'd take a discount with all his talk of loving TO.
