Arthur: Lowry didn't want to re-sign here if Casey retained

Seems Lowry and Casey haven't ever been on the same page.

One source says that last season, when Lowry was a pending free agent, the team was informed he would not re-sign with Casey as the coach. That hurdle was overcome, and the two attempted to work together, sometimes very well. Monday, it looked like the gap still exists.

I don't think Lowry is a big fan of coaches in general.

There is something brewing here and it doesn't help that Casey publicy called out Lowry for being fat today.

Both of them can go I don't care. Oh, and take Derozan too.

If Masai doesn't get rid of Lowry next season is lost.
Lowry is journeyman PG, who is he to call any shots? I think he is the problem in the locker room. I can't see any other player on the team having that sense of entitlement to dictate who and isn't the coach.

Seems like a running theme. Lowry just needs to play basketball and not focus on this ****. He was driven out of Houston for similar issues.

They both need to go, they proved they put their ego before the team all season.

Just send all the leaders of this team packing Casey, Derozan, and Lowry and restart the rebuild that Masai was seeking.

Wow, didnt see his comments today. But if this is true, it leads me to think Casey knows he's a dead man walking. Either that, or Casey is here for the longterm and knows Lowry isnt. But I doubt that.

That part that is frustrating is that Casey basically gave him the keys to run the team. Guy was never reigned in offensively. He took bad shots where he was hitting them or not. He basically played D only when he wanted, and often played safety instead of disciplined D.
Guy struggled for 4months out of the year, and he was never benched or had his minutes reduced. Did Casey even criticize him publicly? I felt like Casey was like pins and needles with his coaching of Lowry. What can he possible be angry about with Casey? He probably got criticized internally, and he didn't take it well.
Whatever you think of Casey, its not a good coaching environment to have one player who maybe your #1 or #2 to constantly budding heads with the coach. Especially when that player is not special talent.

Casey can leave.
Lowry should be traded.
DeRozan should have the waters tested.

Lowry is fat. Not only that he didn't charges as much as he did last year - suggesting he either didn't put the effort in this year, was not in condition to take the charge (injury) or got overconfident to the point it was below him
But people warned that after his contract he will lose the desire to work extremely hard. That's the major difference in playoffs this year. Last year's Raptors with Salmons and fit Lowry could beat Washington.

Arthur had a lot more to say about Lowry on TSN Drive than what he wrote in the Star. Arthur indicated that Lowry was either a participant or the cause of a fractured locker room after the new year.
Basically he said that Lowry can be a difficult personality for coaches and players to deal with. And while everything went well through 2014, early this year Lowry was causing or at least part of some locker room tension - which didn't help matters. Some of the issues Lowry had in Memphis and Houston are appearing again in Toronto after a period of calm.
Arthurs said that Lowry (supposedly) has trust issues with people and tends to over react to certain situations. Plus, Lowry and Casey weren't always on the same page (which Lewenberg also mentioned today).
