Armstrong: Casey will have a say on who he will work with

On assistants being fired

Known Tom and Bill for a long time

    Its never easy

When you make a coaching change, a lot of it comes down to hey i want different approach, different voice

a lot of times when you shake things up, it starts with the head coach

What this means for Casey

Casey has improved the team but reality is no assistant has stuck around for a while with him

All eyes are on Casey and what he does

Casey is still the man to do it but tweaking the staff should bring in new voice

Casey is getting paid big money and he has to understand when you get into your 5th year, thats a good run and you need results

So when things start changing around you, as long as you have voice in the room that you can rely on, thats all you can ask

You prepare your team and have them play to the best of their abilities and let the chips fall where they may

Casey will need to approve the assistants

No way do I see a situation where a assistant gets hired without his approval

Caseys job is harder now with brand new assistants but it was going to be hard regardless

The expectation is 50+wins and winning a playoff series

Thats what you signed up for

I'm a former coach I've lived this life

its the reality if your job

If Casey wins a lot of games, wins a playoff series, all will be forgotten, if not they may decide to fire him

This is where teams tend to be when they're stuck in the middle and thats where the Raptors are

Free agents

Landry Fields, Hayes won't be back

I doubt any of the guys will be back

Who they can get in free agency will decide the fates of Lou and Amir

Raptors need a starting SF & PF

Wouldn't shock me if none of those guys come back

I firmly believe there will be at least 5-6 new faces on the Raptors

He already had a say in who he wanted to work with, he also had a say on who to get rid of.

I don't think we are relying on free agency. I think SF spots maybe easier to acquire from FA or trades, but starting PF may have to be drafted. Amir and James Johnson are aftermath, so I am not surprised they won't be here if we acquired more than one PF. Daniels is another question if we are giving him a D-League contract instead. Lack of ball penetration is another issue. If we are not addressing this at PF/SF, we may trade someone for more ball penetration.

I dont even know if Casey has any kind of close relationship with former players. Like seems that his favorite player he has coached in the past is Rashard Lewis..so maybe he will recruit him to be assistant coach LOL

He also had a say in who got minutes in the playoffs, and look how flawlessly that went.

I think you're the one that knows nothing,he's right on, Amir is dead weight (but a loyal trooper) and we need a SF(Harris or Middleton)Plus a backup point guard (Cojo).

Basically here's our 6 free agents:
Bigs (in order who I priortize keeping, honestly I can see at least ONE of these 4 bigs to be back it's just hard to see all 4 players gone, would be nice to have one of them return but who knows how the team direction will go). Good to have a returning veteran around for the young core.
    - Amir Johnson
    - Tyler Hansbrough
    - Greg Stiemsma (replace in FA)
    - Chuck Hayes (replace)

Guard/Wing: (we can do better depending on the market, won't be sad to see them go)
    - Lou Williams (50/50)
    - Landry Fields (gone)

I'm glad Casey will have a say in who his next staff will be. Casey "knows what he's doing".
