THANK NATION IS HERE! AKA The Jimmy Dolan appreciation thread.
For anyone who has been hiding under a rock since Masai Ujiri became General Manager or is simply a casual fan, this year we have an additional first round pick. It is an unprotected first rounder received as the prize in the Andrea Bargnani trade. We receive the worse of the New York Knicks or Denver Nuggets first round picks in 2016. This means we do not need to tank in order to secure a lottery pick.

Warming up to the idea of drafting Poeltl. I think he has enough versatility and quickness to play opposite JV. In the short term, he can at least replace Biyombo.

1. We reach for Sabonis at 9. Server down.
2. We reach for Dejounte at 9. Server down.
3. We reach for Thon at 9. Server down.
4. We trade the 9 and the 27 for the 8th and land Buddy Hield. Haters troll the board. Real fans go nuts.

I am completely OK with this especially if Biz get a ridiculous offer and must move on.

I will believe in any player Masai picks until he proves me otherwise in the regular season.

...and that would be the exact reason I don't like Poeltl. You don't ever draft in the lottery based on need unless Player A and Player B have the same level of potential but one is at a position of need.
There's absolutely no reason to waste our lone lottery pick for years to come to address a back up role. Thankfully Masai squashed this weak drafting concept the two of you suffer from. Not to mention if we were to do so Davis is FAR more in the mold of Biyombo but either way I don't take either as the idea of a lottery pick is B P A...not sure how many years it will take for some people on this board to get that.
The VAST majority of the league is loaded with role players and back ups which is why you address those needs in FA or trades. The league has so few all star level talents this is our chance to find one. I thank God our team isn't run by posters that think the way you two do, no offense boys.

Really! No player has ever come into the league as a back-up before winning the starting role. Not one? Not ever? Hmmm.

I'll reiterate how DX does their mock. Their mock is NOT team based yet, it's a general mock where they incorporate perceived general movement. They only set it up to be team specific a lot closer to the draft, like 2-3 days before. Poetl being there now means nothing, you don't have to enter a stage of acceptance for him yet lol.
I don't think he'll be a bad player but it makes no sense to draft him behind JV, who is and will continue to be better.

I would bet money one of Murray, Brown, Hield is available at our pick...

Likely Brown. As for Poetl I like him as a player and how he fits is somewhat secondary. To me.
