THANK NATION IS HERE! AKA The Jimmy Dolan appreciation thread.

For anyone who has been hiding under a rock since Masai Ujiri became General Manager or is simply a casual fan, this year we have an additional first round pick. It is an unprotected first rounder received as the prize in the Andrea Bargnani trade. We receive the worse of the New York Knicks or Denver Nuggets first round picks in 2016. This means we do not need to tank in order to secure a lottery pick.

Not going to drink the Korkmaz kool aid. Aware of his talent but too many question marks for me regarding his ability to create at the NBA level and his suspect defense. Given that we most likely won't get another top 10 pick for a while, might as well go highest upside and balance it out with the lowest floor. I am all aboard the Davis, Skal and Sabonis train.

If we don't trade the 9th pick we are getting Deyonte Davis or Skal, assuming none of Chriss, Murray or Hield drops.

Tired of seeing the "trade Ross" BS. He has way more value than a low-end lottery player in a historically weak draft. How many players with Ross' skillset are available in free agency or this draft? I guess Buddy Hield is an approximation but he's inferior on both ends and could go as high as 3. At least Ross can actually create a shot for himself occasionally, get stops sometimes, and shoot quickly off screens. Hield is a spot-up set shooter with a low release who needs a ton of airspace, and he's a turnstile on D.

Hield is not a spot-up shooter, he can absolutely create offense for himself in a variety of ways.

Deyonta Davis or deal with the countless threads about not drafting him.

Spoiler:
Unless Chriss falls

Ya man everyone including me thinking we should trade Ross+9th to go up or go down the draft; how about trading Ross+9th to get a better asset to improve this team rather then take another project which we have in Pow, Delon, Bruno, Bebe, and the forgotten Deandre Daniels; for example trade Ross+9th to philly for okafor+noel+future picks

9th and 27th for 15 and 19.
Take Maker at 15 and any of Sabonis, Prince, Jackson or whoever else falls at 19.

We've drafted Derozan and McGrady with the #9 pick. I'd say we have really good luck picking at that spot.

I know all mock drafts are different but the one I just checked updated 1 day ago has him as a late 1st round pick early 2nd round pick if he slips.

I have zero interest in another long project who will need to be developed.

i disagree, i have given up on ross. the guy avg what like 5 pts in the post-season and way under his regular %. he can defend at times sure but, other times he looks so uninspired and coasts. he prob from the beginning had more potential then anyone we could draft at 9 with his athleticism and 3pt shot. unfortunately, his iq and mentality is piss poor.

and to say that hield is a lesser player is crazy. i can guarantee not one team in the 3-6 range would give up that pick for ross.

And I have zero interest in another role player. Different strokes for different folks.
I'd be happy to get him at 27 and take whichever "safe" player Masai likes at 9. I just think it's glaringly obvious and always has been, that you need superstars to win championships. Maker could bust, but he ticks off more boxes to be a star than a lot of the guys outside the top 3-5 picks.

LMAO  please, you're talking about single digit scoring Ross?! ...Ross creates his own shot about as often as an occurance of an eclipse. His ballhandling and creativity level are laughable. Hield is by far better at nearly everything aside from maybe defence but Ross' has been a joke, it was only his first year that he showed some promise n since then it is baffling as to what happened to his ability to defend. Buddy showed the ability to carry a team and have entire defences key in to him and STILL go off. Hield has had game after game of unbelievable performances, Ross has one decent game (minus his Tony Delk 50pt game) then disappears for 2 weeks and rinse/repeat.

I have no doubts that Hield will put up better numbers than Ross ever has (don't forget he was a starter albeit a garbage one) and I'm willing to bet on that. Funny thing is I doubt Ross would even go top 8 in this draft lol I'm not saying Hield is some Steph Curry or whatever or that he is going to be the next great SG but simply that he is better than Ross and will prove it fairly quickly.
