in general, with late 1sts and 2nds, you always want to see your GM gamble on the unknown with upside. I don't think it's every smart to rag on a pick like this, even if it turns into a Bruno.
on the flipside, i think fans have every right to criticize a GM that plays it safe with a lottery pick, and passes on upside in favor of polish or readiness.

Lol here's a classic
LOL I remember I was just joking around and going with the mood around here. I honestly didn't care who we drafted because I had no idea about any of these players

If we keep him for the majority of his career, I wonder where Pascal could rank as an all-time Raptor.

The monthly bump. WOw we should be punished for our sins on draft night. We don't deserve Masai and we certainly don't deserve Pascal man

I found it extremely interesting skimming through the first few pages on this thread. As per usual, 80% of the board completely was wrong. Dunning Kruger Effect - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning%E2%80%93Kruger_effect
Siakam has blossomed to a level higher than I expected.....the other guy the Raps drafted - Poeltl, also has some break out potential as there isn't much to not like about his game....high iq, soft hands, mobile, passing instincts, good D. If he develops a jumper, he's basically a complete player. His minutes have been restricted this year with Aldridge eating up most of the C minutes in front of him. In a couple of years I hope to see Poeltl as a starting level C, top 10-15 at his position.

We played it safe with Jakub, he is starting to look like a stud for the Spurs.

Agreed lol. Its only people that continue to pretend they know better than our FO that throw a hissy fit when they get called out later.El Mas Chingon wrote:It's really too bad that digging up old threads is frowned upon around here. There would be a lot less stupidity and over reaction around here if people were called out more often on their hot takes and uninformed posts. So much histrionics is allowed around here. A little shaming would go a long way.

Who's better?
Simmons and Sabonis are the only other good players from that draft, and Pascal is better than both by a fair margin.
Simmons was selected to the ASG on hype alone this year. He isn't even close to Pascal's productivity.

Does anyone else remember when Masai said something along the lines of: don’t forget about Pascal, he’s done great things.
Everyone let him go from the beggining, but I remember him avg 20/10 at New Mexico. He was a beast. Masai is a genius.

I think he could easily pass Bosh, with the #1 spot as a reasonable goal, unless Kawhi stays for the rest of his career.

Just because Sabonis is coming off the bench doesn't mean that he's below Pascal by a fair margin. Sabonis is Indiana's best player. There's a reason why they have stayed a float with the loss of Oladipo.

RPM this year:
Siakam: 3.99
Sabonis: 1.79
Simmons: 1.36
They all have similar usage rates (20-23%). Siakam has been ridiculously productive this year.

Well most Analysts agreed that selecting Jakob would be the safest pick in the draft outside the top 3, due to his solid IQ and fundamentals. But the thing is "safe" generally means "low ceiling". And that's what people believed.
Siakam was your basic high risk high reward player due to him being raw. We should be grateful that Pascal has put it together as well as he did.

Did you read the third sentence of his? Jakub was a safe bet lotto pick.
