Glad i called Masai picking him in the predictions threads before this one was picked.

Though i was a bit wrong about the type of player he'd become. Never foresaw a point-forward.

I figured Masai would pick him for his motor (which was incredible in those NMU videos with Rap legend Derrick Murray). Dude could run like a gazelle.

Figured he'd be a Bismackish type player but with better scoring and a half-decent midrange game who could grab rebounds, defend, and push pace.

He became so much more. Its incredible.

But i called us drafting him when he was still rather unknown on this board. Got lucky on that one, i guess

How many hours has it been since Kawhi did it in Game 2?

He said 30 points and 11 rebounds

Average on the post. Has quick feet but isn't a player you'll feed when you need a bucket.

Also

Remember when people compared his ceiling to Draymond Green but Siakam would never be as good?

He's definitively better than Draymond now.

What a time to be alive. Praise Siakam Raptor Christ.

Remember when people said Tatum was the better player because he produced in the playoffs while Pascal would get shut down when he got there?

I love this pick for Toronto. I had Siakam as the most underrated player in the draft.

Steal of the draft IMO. Top-15 talent. Maybe top-10 in this draft. Draymond Green like defense and promising offensive game for someone who's basically had 2 years of serious coaching.

This thread is absolutely hilarious. People who think they know better than Masai getting called out by people who also just got lucky. RealGM circle of life.

If you said Spicy was a good pick at the time, great. If you calmly didnt think so, it was your opinion at the time, totally fair.

Nobody, Masai included, saw this much Spice coming. No need to **** on your fellow posters over what is essentially a flukey prediction for 99% of us who only watch highlights or breakdowns by other people.

What’s worse is people saying Masai made a terrible choice or he’s a bad drafter before they saw a single game from the rookie, especially that late in the draft. They are so arrogant they are confident that the pick they would have made at frickin 27th is the right one based on absolutely nothing

Interesting pre-draft writeup. Nothing seems too crazy except for the fact that they called him out for lacking athleticism -- that's not usually something you develop which means the scouts either missed it, or just didn't do enough work (as in watch enough of his games) to write him up correctly.
Interviewer: Championship #2?
Ujiri: Hey...We're gonna get it. I don't know when it'll be, but we're gonna get it. Just like I said we'll get the first one and I said I didn't know when we'd get it...But we will. Guarantee you we will.

Just to answer your question. Don't think he's going to be a star but plenty of solid players I didn't list as well.

Well, I guess I was wrong

I was always okay drafting Pascal even had he been drafted with the 9th pick, But I kinda wish we drafted Skal instead of Poeltl

on the flipside, i think fans have every right to criticize a GM that plays it safe with a lottery pick, and passes on upside in favor of polish or readiness.

We played it safe with Jakub, he is starting to look like a stud for the Spurs.

stud? that's a stretch.

I like poeltl but he's the perfect example of why you don't play it safe with a lotto pick - because even when they work out, like poeltl, they still end up only as good support players.

but you cant pass on Skal or davis at this point..........the guy you draft at 27 for a playoff team isnt probobly going to get minutes!!! --go with the best potential....not an unathletic big!!!

This was a mistake

To be fair....his max vert is 36 which is promising and doesnt seem unathletic
this is great
