Anyone else not onboard with the direction of this team? #Treadmill

Masai made were great "win-this-year" moves, with little foresight into the future....
facts:
1) We almost guaranteed to re-signing Lowry (unless he chooses to leave), on a 5-year supermax timed exactly for his decline and will be locked into 75M/annually for our backcourt for the next 4 years min.
2) We cannot afford to resign our players this offseason. pick your poison. Having Ibaka and Tucker now just makes it harder to pick who to keep and we lose a couple draft picks...
Assumming we keep ppat + lowry.....Cojo's def gone, along with 1 of either ibaka or JV and finally 1 of either carroll or tucker+bruno.....thats even if MLSE is
VERY generous with the tax
more importantly, Norm and Bebe also come off their bargain-bin contracts NEXT summer, and multiple teams will throw them mozgov/biyombo money, and we're gonna lose them 100% if we keep the status quo

...
Come 2018 season, what the hell do we have left?
3)
Lebrons only 32, Love 28, Kyrie, 24
Lowry 31, Derozan 27, Ibaka 27..(37?)
Cleveland will not be dethroned as the de-facto East Champs for the forseeable "peak" of this core (next 4 years lets say)
Next up would be the celtics who are just waiting for the right deal to strike.... Boston has a solid core already and can easily flip their propects/picks to get a true superstar when they feel like it to really take them over the top...
--
with the way we've played lately, we would have it rough getting past WAS + BOS, esp with the lower seed ....and ps. anything past first round ensure D. CASEY's tenure as coach here
...is that what really we should be striving for?

It's not treadmill. We have 7 rookie deal contracts. We have all our future picks. We don't even know how this team is right with ibaka and tucker. Let's wait until after the playoffs
This championship or bust mentality is wack. I get it but undermining being a young competitive team that's fun to watch is so damn underrated.
We could be the Bulls, kings, Hornets, Knicks, magic, pistons, pacers, OKC, etc level where you don't even have a chance at the 2nd round. With medicare players and picks
I'm 100% comfortable building a contender for east while we draft young guys and hope 1 becomes a star. Norman Powell I'm very high on. Poelti is soild too

1995-1998: We sucked.
1999-2002: We sucked less. Actually, we were good in 2001. Had VC made that bucket, we probably would've made the finals. So 1 quality year of Raptors basketball total.
2003-2005: Sucked.
2006-2008: Pretty much sucked. Couldn't win a round.
2009-2012: Sucked.
2013-Present: Hey, look - we're good. We actually have a shot of making the finals. This is incredible.
I can understand fretting about the future if you're somewhat of a new fan. But if you're like me and have been a fan since day 1, shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Except for how cheaply Noel, McBuckets and McDaniels went I think our moves were good. It says clearly Masai is all in on Lowry and Ibaka.

A treadmill team is a team constantly stuck in neutral. They are not good enough to make an impact in the playoffs. But they never suck enough to get a top pick.
We aren't in that situation. We are coming up off an ECF appearance. We have 2 all-stars and good players. We have young controllable assets and all of our first round picks.
At some point you need to try to take a few gambles to bolster your team giving you a chance to win. It may not be enough but you still have to take a shot. If this doesn't work out and it all blows up in our face. We are still in position to retool and rebuild because the one thing Masai has been pretty good at since taking over is asset management.

OP defines #Treadmill as ECF reappearance? are you kidding me, even for realGM standard, this is pure clickbait type of thread.
Return to ECF is not treadmill, that's being a top 4 team for 2 straight seasons.
Would you call Spurs a treadmill team, a team who may not win every year but always hanging around come playoff time?
seriously.

Im happy with the moves, my only problem would be standing pat. All i wanted was choose a direction, either go all in with this core or break it up, dont be satisfied just making the playoffs every year.

Man why can't you guys just keep post like this in the team negative thread and stop flooding the board with negativity. We were just in the east finals yet we're a treadmill team. Yes we should have blown this s... up, trade everybody, and start tanking the season after going to the eastern finals (roll eyes) yes because tanking is a guaranteed way to win a championship. "Yay let's start tanking again so we can go back to being the craptors aka the joke of the NBA" These guys don't understand how much the recent success of the raptors are helping grow the sport in this country. I will never understand the logic of some of these "so called" raptor fans.

My sentiments exactly. I'm just happy we're no longer the laughing stocks of the league; and that I can turn on TSN/Sportsnet and get Raptors highlights right after the game, and not have to wait 30 minutes for all the NHL, NFL & Curling highlights. In most cases back then, you'd be lucky to get a highlight. The day one fans know how much of a struggle it was just to get to this level of success, 20 years later. As a result, we're eternally grateful and appreciative of it.
I recall having to listen to the games on the radio as a kid, cause the TV broke. From '98-99, not even missing a single game; sitting beside the radio - cheering the team on regardless if we lost. This is the greatest era in Toronto Raptors basketball history, what more can we essentially ask for? The fans that are always complaining, nitpicking, and viewing things in hindsight; weren't watching during the "dark ages". If they were, they'd be elated and grateful for how this franchise has taken a turn for the better, cemented itself as a playoff contender, and amongst the elite in this league.

ECF doesn't mean anything.
Treadmill team- a team that isn't good enough to win it all or have the pieces to get there in the intimidate future.
If you have a young superstar or potential superstar, if you are in the bottom 5 or if you are the Cavs, Warriors or Spurs, you aren't a treadmill team.
ECF means nothing! the twolves aren't treadmill, but we have a way better record than them. Record means nothing, it's are you building towards becoming a championship level contender.
The answer for us, no! We're building for 2nd place

Timberwolves haven't done a damn thing. Wiggins and KAT don't play defense. They are going for the 8th place. Haven't made the playoffs in 12 years lol
