I just love being in Toronto.

Spend time in other cities and you really see how awesome it is.

Amazing parks, diverse population, big city feel, 401/DVP fun, Botanical gardens, Sports teams, busting downtown, so many food options, TTC.

Touche.

Also, ruckus - interested in your restaurant picks in Etobicoke. I just moved to the west end and am pretty lost, aside from Apache and a few little places I know. Any tips in Mississauga are also appreciated.

Toronto is awesome though, and we might just get better weather. Global warming is real.

Apache? bleh. I don't frequent Mississauga too often unless it's for a family thing. Etobicoke is my hood.

You can't go wrong with the Priest on Queensway for burgers. I swear by Insadong on Dundas for Korean. Mamma Martino's for homemade Italian. 850 on Lakeshore for pizza. And if we don't feel like trekking downtown, we do head to Mississauga for Ramen - Kenzo on Burnhamthorpe with a little bubble tea at Chatime right beside it.

That's really it in terms of places we frequent. If there's something new to try, we generally head downtown for that. If you want rolled thai ice cream, check out Wow Wow Yum Yum at Rockwood Mall on Dixie.

Actually, my favorite place, although we don't get to go there too much, is New Orleans restaurant on Scarlett Road. If you're an old head, like myself, there used to be a Creole place at the old food court at Sherway Gardens in the 90s. He shut down shop there, went to Oakville for a bit and then re-opened on Scarlett Road. Hands down the best creole food in Toronto. We've tried other places like Southern Accent and, it doesn't come close.

Cheers. Apache is solid as a late night option for me, as it's right by Kipling subway. California sandwiches is near burgers priest on queensway. I go there sometimes, if I don't go to the Italian bakery near me. Any other restaurants you like in the area? I like the breakfast place by Canadian tire and sport cuts. Sonny side up or something like that. Also sushi kaji is an obvious one and I quite like Chaban for Korean, and that's right by Kaji. All on/near queensway.
I believe in Masai.

This is the most important post for anyone wanting to enjoy the city. Stay the **** away from driving or taking transit and walk or cycle. The difference it makes to the experience is enormous. My whole family, apart from me, lives in the burbs and when they come downtown they are stressed as hell. I mean how can you enjoy yourself when you're jammed between cars, stuck at a light for an hour and can't find a parking space?
Buying a bike last year after moving to the harborfront area was the best purchase I ever made.

You're absolutely right, biking is way faster then driving around. Having a car is really convenient though for errands. What I tend to do is just park somewhere and take transit or walk around wherever I need to go. One spot I normally park at is Yonge/St.Clair apartment buildings, they never check outdoor parking at this building apparently. Then I just take the subway wherever.

Incidentally, there's a nice trail to walk down starting at Yonge and St. Clair.

Dang, was hoping it would have been the next Shake Shack. Would be nice to have Canadian businesses around here.

Personally i prefer griddled burgers and I'm a big Burger's Priest fan.

I am totally against Holy Chuck. The owner approached Shaunt (the owner of Burger's Priest) and basically tried to extort him to partner with him and when that failed, he opened up Holy Chuck which is 100% a rip-off of Priest's better product.
Despite the story, I had to try it for myself and when I went with my brother and a couple of his buddies, one of them found cartilage in their burger and another's was under-cooked. Vile.

Spoiler:
Next time that you're at Priest, ask for the Stern Fries from the secret menu. (Not named after me, but a different brother.)

Bar Isabel may well be close to the best restaurant in the city. I get half the menu every time I'm there.
Allen's has some bomb scotch selection, used to just go there to hang out by the bar
Chinese I'd have to say Maple Yip up in Scarborough, but it's a pretty small hole in the wall, not really non-Chinese friendly.
Pork blood pasta at Buca was primo.

Add Trinidadian: Mona's Roti in Scarborough.
Add Tacos: Probably Grand Electric (though it's a bit played out now)

You can't go wrong with this list - super solid.

That is a great restaurant list, thank-you for sharing.

Can you recommend a steakhouse between The Keg (which never disappoints or blows you away) and Jacobs/Harbour 60 (which never leave you with any money)?

We're leaving Owen Sound for a week so my son can do a basketball camp in the city, so there will be lots of meals to try out many on your list.

+1 for Bar Isabel, delicious!
Allen's is also a bar/scene so you're totally in the right. The mid-town version is The Monk's Table. Good stuff.
I rarely make my way outside of Toronto proper, but I will have to try Maple Yip. I love authentic cuisine.
Mmm Buca..
Same as before, maybe I'm better trying Mona's Roti rather than Maple Yip, because there are so many Chinese places in the core.
Had some very nice meals at GE, but agree that it isn't what it used to be.

For what it's worth, Jacob&Co is worth every last penny, but I understand that it still requires a lot of pennies...
Morton's, House of Chan and as @ontnut mentioned in his response, Bar Isabel.
If I had to pick for a family, Parts&Labour (P&L) and order their Cote de Boeuf. If some don't want that, the burger is also one of the tops in the city!
You can do much better than The Keg for sure. If you don't spend heavily on wine, most places become much more affordable.
