I've been watching the NBA for 30 years and the traditional maxim that big men take longer to develop certainly can be true, and JV has always seemed like that type to me. I feel like this is the age and time for him to start putting it together. The team was definitely looking for him last night. Demar passed to him (or tried and failed) more than any normal 10 game stretch. I don't expect drastically different stats, maybe 4 more ppg, but I do expect a better team when he's on the court, and for him to stay on the court more.

JV fans never change, the guy has good game against probably worst team in the league this and against below average starting center and they act like he somehow turned his career around. Remember he started last year with 31 points 12 rebound game against pistons ....

Do a favor and ban yourself.

You truly believe that JV is a complete garbage since JV was 16. You need to see a specialist. Untreated conditions for such a prolonged time could cause irreversible damage (if there is anything left to damage in your case).
You probably try to prove that earth is flat and the center of the solar system, people need to drive on the red light and stand still on the green, that in the Graet Britain and Japan people drive on the wrong side of the road, as they do in USA and the most of the world, and are generous enough to share your wisdom about everything.
You give advice to women how to delivery a baby from your own male experience (you gave birth to many childre.... to many radical inventions in the science - all for the benefit of humanity). Such a wonderful, great this board presence. We are obliged to treasure you.
Personally, I think that you are related to Casey (or Casey himself).

10-15 pounds of body mass, not brain ;)

Spending summer with Lithuanian NT is very beneficial to every bball player. Was very involved in sport myself and I held all the surrounding stuff about training in highest esteem. Tactical training, physical, medical staff, rehab, adoption of newest scientific developments - and we are like that LT won gold in Euroball in 37' and 39'. That guys, is a highest level pedigree.

Looked decisive last night, let's hope he keeps it up.

I think I've said this the past 2 pre-seasons, but we go as far as JV takes us. He's our 3rd star(or 4th? OG is here!) and was a PER monster during our ECF run.
He'll still get burned a lot on pick and roll action and there were several plays last night where it happened, but we only need him to be an average defender. If he's his usual excellent rebounding and efficient scoring self, while making quicker decisions passing the ball, then he's a fringe all-star player.

Honestly, I was not excited about this season at all and I will try to keep things in perspective since the Bulls are the least talented team in the league. However, we saw more team ball last night than possibly any game last season. I don't know if that makes us any real threat to the Cavs, but it sure makes it a lot easier to just enjoy the next couple seasons.

I've said for years .... JV's biggest issue was the system he was playing in, not that he was so obsolete archetype.

Leaving a gifted roll man on the dunker spot to pick up offensive rebounds, or setting screens strictly to free up a guard and trail, isn't the way to use him. I'm glad they finally got it right.

He's known to show up against big name center's around the league but fade when he's playing against players with less talent. He'll have a big test on his hands with joel who looks like the best center in the league right now. That being said he does look more decisive without doing that stupid 4 pump fakes before taking a wide open shot.

I don’t think it is so much the big-names vs no-names, it’s traditional beg men vs stretch big men. JV struggles to stay on the floor against guys like Channing Frye, not the Drummonds, Boguts, etc. of the league because it draws him out of the paint and he hasn’t been able to move fast enough to recover on a switch or close out, or to get back into position for rebounds

We've had this discussion before on the board, but I wonder what would happen if we kept JV on the floor against one of those guys for just one game. Just to let it play out. He'll get burned on the pick and roll 3s, but if he dominates on the boards and scores with efficiency it might be a wash. Considering we can't beat either team in a series anyway, it's worth trying out for one game. Just a thought.

JV already leading in the Raptors all time true shooting percentage. If he is not traded soon (as mostly here dream about), he will climb up in many statistical categories pretty noticeably.

I wouldn't trade neither Norman nor JV alone for that headcase. Even if they added first round pick.

It was annoying when Jack said if JV plays like this for 3 quarters, it would force Casey to play him in the 4th. Uhhh, earth to Jack, there were at least a handful of times last year that JV beasted in the 1st half and got absolutely zero PT in the 4th quarter. I expect this to continue once Casey reverts back to his old ways after 10 games.
