Lets turn assets we don't use into something.

Something like Powell + JV for Gallo. Leaves room for Freddy to be resigned. 3 years. $8 per.

Powell's contract is a huge hinderance in 20/21 when all our core expires. We need max cap space for 2+ stars that summer. I want to ditch him now and just commit to this 3 year window which Gallo fits. Powell also has no fit with the team. JV can be replaced pretty easily IMO with a player like Mo Speights.

Lowry - Van Vleet - Brown
DeRozen - Wright
OG - Miles - Miller
Gallo - Siakam
Ibaka - Poeltl - Speights

Ad Speights, keep Lorenzo Brown, Malcolm Miller, and McKinnie

This is not a bad use of the Powell contract. But I'm not giving up JV in a deal like this. Especially for Gallo who never plays a whole season.

It would have to be Powell and Miles for Gallo if we're going to look at getting him. However the Clips take on an extra year of Powell, they already have Lou Will on a steal of a contract and will probably look to resign Bradley as well. These things likely complicate matters.

But Lowry/DeRozan/Gallo/Ibaka/Val is an interesting lineup. When Gallo is healthy, he's an all-star caliber guy. Would REALLY love to add Bradley to our bench as well but that's highly unlikely.

I agree with you on JV. I think he would automatically become the Clippers best player. To me Gallo is a dead contract on a rebuilding Clippers team. They need to tank next year. Winning anything is a loss for them in reality.

Powell is a bad asset for us, on a bad timeline with expiry. Clippers might actually hate that Gallo contract and be worried about winning enough to unload Gallo for Powell, Miles, and pocket change. Unfortunately I think that makes it impossible to resign Fred.

Yea the Clippers need to move Jordan, Bradley and Gallo for the highest possible price and look towards the draft to rebuild. I also don't think Gallo's contract is great either but everyone in the NBA knows how good he can be when healthy and with the lack of quality 3s in the league, it wouldn't surprise me to see someone move more than we think to acquire him. Conversely, it wouldn't surprise me if the Clips moved him just to increase their likelihood of losing. His value is up in the air for sure.

Idk. If the Clips were willing to expand the deal to include Jordan, then things get really interesting. Other than that, all I'd offer is Powell and Miles.

Would also look at Crowder this off season.

As for FVV, MLSE needs to pony up and pay the tax. I guess a lot of that will weigh heavily on how they perform over these coming weeks.

Agreed, Gallo is a pretty solid talent. IMO leaps and bounds better then Jae Crowder (he has multiple years left as well)

I don't think Miles brings anything to the team, but his contract is ok for a 3pt specialist.... I wonder if we could ship him out to a 3rd team that is dire of shooting like Memphis.

Maybe something like

LA In - JyMichael Green + Norman Powell +
TO In - Gallo
Memphis In - CJ Miles

Powell is essentially an 11th or 12th man, and Miles is a bit of a chucker... Im not sure they would be missed. DD & Lowry are in the primes of their career. They would be foolish not to support an all star talent like Gallo in the locker room and make it work with the rest of the lineup

I don't know that Memphis is the best fit. They're a little thin at the PF spot and personally I wouldn't do Green for Miles.

Maybe something like Gallo to TOR; Faried, Powell, Bebe + 2nd (LAC own from DEN) to LA; capspace to DEN.

If I'm not mistaken, Bebe could be traded once we extend the QO. LA might have to throw in a bit more salary to balance it out but other than that I think it works. It's late and I haven't done the homework behind this deal lol.

But yeah. I think Denver likes this. Faried is out of their rotation and they have a lot of bigs as it is. To get rid of him and not take any money back is well worth an early second.

we are taking back too much money, even if we include Miles that 17.7 mil we are sending and getting back 21.5 mil.

I think we might trade Powell to Kings in return of s&t Vince for a veteran minimum and then trade Miles to another team for second round pick.

Quite possibly re: Powell.

I would hope that we don't move Miles if all we're getting back is a second. We're incredibly thin at the SF spot. Can't afford to move a sniper on a good deal for a second rounder.

That doesn't help, we will be way over Luxury Tax Threshold.

KL (31)
DD (27.7)
SI (21.6)
DG (21.5)
JV (16.5)
Just those 5 guys add up to ~118 M, which is very close to estimated 2018-19 Luxury Tax Threshold is around 121 M. MLSE is not paying around 25-30 M in taxes.

Well the way I see it is either pay the tax and compete for real or break it down and rebuild. Just riding the fence doesn't help the players, the franchise or the fans in the long run.

Faried is a great call, he expires the next off season, the Clips would probably prefer the cap space to Gallo as well.

Although I don’t think we would deal for Galinari it looks interesting. I would have him come off the bench. We add some size and play making

Lowry / Fred / Brown
DeRozan / Wright
OG / Galinari
Ibaka / Siakam
Val / Poeltl

I'd prefer to keep Stew and give Monte Morris
I'd really prefer to keep Morris and Stew and give the great Killian Hayes and 2nd round picks

The beauty of what we have built is we have an "elite" bench. Its our superstar. Combine that with all stars, and this is a VERY good team capable of winning a title.

Gallo and JV as offensive specialists at 20 mins a game is absolutely deadly. Looking at all our defensive assets in Poeltl, OG, Ibaka, and Wright.... Im in love with that lineup. Would prefer to bring back Bebe as well.

DD + JV for Kawhi.

Cant see Pop wanting to rebuild. Seems like he'd want proven players who can help win now. DD + JV can help with that. Id even be willing to add in a 2020 1st to get it done.

Can JV and LMA succeed together?

This is tempting for sure. However, if DD adds a little more to his game, as he does every year, maybe some better D or pops his 3 point average to 38%.... in that case we'd be losing out. You know JV is getting better and better for the next few years as well. Kawhi? He is likely past his prime due to health problems. Probably still a net positive compared to having JV and DD on the court together, but if he can only do that for 50-60 games per year... is it worth it?

But yeah, very tempting if the Spurs would be interested and if it would allow us to keep FVV and BeBe.

It lets Norm play SG and OG can slide to the backup SF. $43M out, $20M in. Who else would the Spurs be sending back to make the salaries work? Gasol at 16.8M?

If we were to get Kawhi, could we then offer him a super max 5 yr deal during the season or would we be risking him being a 1 year rental?
