1) Lowry, Ibaka to Cleveland for Hill, JR, Clarkson, #8
Why?
Cavs get all-star PG, rim protection and stretch 5 to pair with Lebron, Love, and Korver/Hood. All 5 can hit 3s plus Cavs have a bench.
Raps clear about $38M off books for 2019-2020 (over $50M if they find a taker for Clarkson) and a few million for next season. Raps tell JR to stay home until trade deadline or buy him out with minimum taken off salary for next season and his $3.87m guarantee for 2019-2020 waived. Raps would have $30M in expiring deals to work with at trade deadline.
2) DeRozan to Memphis for Parsons and 4
Miles to Memphis for McLemore.
Why?
Memphis clears Parsons and gets a second team all NBA to pair with Conley and Gasol. They also get a solid player in Miles who fills an area of weakness from 3.
Raptors clear a few more million in addition to trade #1 which can hopefully return FVV and avoid luxury tax. Bonus: Could Raps also get them to take Powell in to one of their trade exceptions?
3) Flip #4 to Celtics for Jaylen Brown and a 2019 pick Sacto pick.
If they want Mo Bamba, here you go. TBH, I'd probably do it for just Brown.
4) Send Clarkson and a 2nd round pick to any team willing to take him.
2018-2019
PG: Hill, FVV, Shai
SG: Brown, Wright, Richardson
SF: OG, McLemore, McKinnie
PF: Siakam, Parsons
C: JV, Poetlt
I think they can compete for 7 or 8 seed if Brown stays healthy. Most importantly they have cap space (which is useful for more than free agency) and draft picks to move forward. This is a quick rebuild versus the inevitable long rebuild that comes with riding out Lowry/Ibaka/DeRozan.
