LOL this is the top nominee for the worst trade proposal of 2018. You're not familiar with Collins are you?

Toronto and Orlando would give Minny heavily protected first round picks.

Tor gets: Butler, Simmons, Vucevic, Taj
Orl gets: Lowry, Norm
Minny gets: Ibaka, Ross, Augustin, Tor 2021 1st, Orl 2020 1st

Why for Toronto: Butler and Simmons to try and keep Kawhi happy. Decreases salary by 9M this year and about 60M next year to be a player in free agency.

Why for Orlando: Filling their biggest need starting PG and veteran leadership without losing any key pieces.

Why for Minny: The two 1sts will be key. Ross, Ibaka and Augustin can all fill their need for 3pt shooting. All they give up is a Butler rental who is likely leaving.

JV/Vuc
OG/Pascal/Taj
Kawhi/CJ/Simmons
Butler/Green/Malachi
VV/Delon/Brown

This could happen closer to the trade deadline and ibaka and norm recover some of their value making it so we don't have to lose a 1st rounder.

How? Zach Randolph is better than Ibaka IMHO. Not to mention Koufos is a solid back-up C and a MASSIVE upgrade over whoever our current backup C is (Bebe? Boucher?)
Not to mention, we get rid of Ibaka and Powell's contracts. We acquire 3 expiring contracts, and will free up 31mil in cap space at the end of the season, which we could use to acquire to another star via free agency to play alongside Kawhi and help convince him to sign to an extension with us.

Slight talent downgrade for the cost of dumping Ibaka/Powell for all expirings? Sacramento would be stupid to do that deal, it would be a fleece. You can get much better value in return for three 8-12 million dollar expirings than an aging PF and an overpaid guard

Randolph and Koufos are worse back up options than Ibaka. Ibaka will fit in better coming off the bench than those 2 combined.

Lowry / FVV / Brown
Green / Wright / Powell
Kahwi / Miles / Richardson
OG / Siakam
Val / Ibaka / Boucher

That line up has a blend of everything we need. Shooting, defence and ball handlers. I don’t mind the lost of our best shot blocker. Siakam and OG can grow in that department

Copier! But yes this is a legit trade. Good for both teams.
Not liking your depth chart though. How does OG all of a sudden become a 3rd stringer?

Lowry/FVV/Brown
Green/Simmons/Malachi
Kawhi/Miles/VC?
OG/Siakam/Boucher?
Val/Ibaka/Birch

I think Simmons could go a long way to helping Kawhi be the best he can this year and being a positive when it comes to possibly re-signing him.

It's a good trade for both teams because Orlando really needs a PG badly.

Just forget that VC business, lol

I really want Butler

Ibaka + Powell + OG

For

Butler + Dieng

I don’t see Min making the playoffs. Getting OG would be great for them.

Is Butler really going to leave huge money on the table at his age? He forms a super tandem with him + Kawhi.

Lowry / Fred / Brown
Butler / Wright / Richardson
Kawhi / Green / Alkins
Siakam / Miles / Boucher
Val / Dieng / Bebe

That 2nd unit is great and good luck scoring on the 1st unit.

2 expiring vets that help now. A young big to add to the Scottie timeline
I'd prefer to keep Stew and give Monte Morris
I'd really prefer to keep Morris and Stew and give the great Killian Hayes and 2nd round picks

Bro I would love this trade but I just cant see Minny doing that right now. Only chance is if they suck to start the season and Butler is becomes available at the deadline

Raptors are going to have to wait for the trade deadline. There will be 2-3 west teams outside of the playoff picture that were looking to compete. There should be players available on those teams.

I think the following are locks for the western playoffs...

GS
Houston
OKC
Jazz
NOP

On the Bubble for 3 Slots...

Spurs
Lakers
Nuggets
Blazers
Wolves

- 2 of the above teams will miss the playoffs :-?

Longshots but will try in vain...

He helps teams win more than Blake Griffin. Wouldn't trade OG for him expiring. Even if he signed an extension.

My APPEASE KAWHI proposal. Please note that this isn't necessarily what I think the Raptors should do; just some deals I drew up for fun with the idea of trying to make Kawhi as happy/comfortable as possible.

- - - - - -

TRADE 1: TOR-MIN-PHX
RAPTORS recieve J.Butler, G.Dieng
WOLVES recieve K. Lowry, T.Chandler, PHX FRP, TOR SRP
SUNS recieve J.Teague

Raptors swap Butler for Lowry, but trade away a pick and eat Dieng's contract.
Wolves stay competetive with Lowry, get rid of Teague and Dieng's deals, and get two future picks for Butler. Chandler is a solid veteran backup C and expires next summer.
Suns get a starting calibre PG to make a playoff push by trading away an expiring Chandler and a protected FRP.

This deal is assuming Butler is unhappy and Thibs, like Pop, doesn't want to go through a rebuild. If DD+Yak+FRP is the price for Kawhi, then Lowry and two picks should be reasonable for an expiring Butler if Minny is able to dump Dieng and Teague as well.

- - - - - -

TRADE 2: TOR-MIL
RAPTORS recieve T.Snell, E.Bledsoe
BUCKS recieve Serge Ibaka

Raptors dump Ibaka, get Kawhi's childhood friend (Snell), and an expiring Bledsoe to fill their hole at PG.
Bucks get out of Snells deal and aquire Ibaka who provides more shooting for them.

Ibaka is a negative asset, so a realistic trade is to deal him for other negative assts. Bucks don't want Snell or Bledsoe anymore, and Serge is a better fit for them while coming off the books a year earlier than Snell.

- - - - - -

TRADE 3: TOR-ORL
RAPTORS recieve J.Simmons, K.Birch
MAGIC recieve F.VanVleet

Raptors get one of Kawhi's best friends and add some nice forward depth, and a backup C.
Magic get a young PG with good leadership and a fair contract.

I know most people have Delon+Norm going in this trade, but I don't think Orlando would do that deal, tbh. Here, instead of having to worry about paying/negotiating with Delon next summer, the Magic get Fred - who is younger - for two seasons.

- - - - - -

RAPTORS DEPTH CHART
Bledsoe / Wright / Brown
Butler / Green / Snell
Leonard / Simmons / Norm
OG / Siakam / Miles
JV / Dieng / Birch

Raptors keep their young core mostly intact and have Bledsoe, Butler, Kawhi, and Green coming off the books next summer.

Suns trade Chandler and 1st pick for Teague? Yikes, maybe for a 2nd pick.
