Yeahhh, but the feeling in the air is that raptors are ripe for a bigger and better things. Huge fanbase (including international), thriving city, basketball overall developing pretty well in Canada - time to make some REAL noise.

There is a difference between making "noise" and actually upgrading the team for the future.

Simply trading our all-stars without a clear vision or faith that one of these draft picks can actually be a franchise type player in the realm of Lebron, Curry, Durant, Westbrook, Davis, Paul or Harden doesn't really help us.

And from what we know over decades of the draft, it is incredibly rare to get one of those players. Most chances are that we draft a player who may never be as good as Lowry or Derozan.

Makes too much sense for us, especially if Bamba is on the board and even if we have to add some filler. Then a trade of JV for cap room opens up.

Memphis needs to win.

This gives them the dream of a Conly/Demar backcourt with Gasol upfront.

Maybe scrap it out for a low seed in the playoffs.
That a huge win for management.
That might be enough to get this deal done.

it does make sense if the owner was legit in saying they want to compete. i make fun of demar a ton but him in the regular season is a good player. they will win games and demar expires same time as conley. not to mention, next years pick is top 8 protected and memphis arent that bad if healthy.
the question is, does masai have it in him to trade away a big piece. my gut says no
