Cory coming to the team so late is another one of many reasons why being placed in the death group is really unfortunate. His first competitive games in 3 weeks will be Australia and Lithuania, the two highest stakes games Canada has played since they embarrassed themselves vs. Venezuela. Makes me wish we had Senegal first.

The France game the next year was the last important game, and we played very well.

Also, I try to erase that Venezuela game from my mind

Australia is definitely beatable regardless of the 4-5 NBA Players they have in their rotation. They're just not good defensively because they are so slow and lack lateral quickness. There's only so much good defensive centres like Baynes and Bogut can do as the last line of defence when everyone else can't keep their guys in front of them. I'm already conceding to Lithuania as one of the top 2 in the group to advance, but I'm looking for Canada to beat Australia and Senegal to be the 2nd team.

And also, I never knew who he was before, but Australia's coach is really bad (I think their fans think so too). Nurse can get any combination of players to play good defence. For Canada to do well, they need to rely on defence and hot 3pt shooting from open 3's generated by Nurse's offence.

I think you're overrating Lithuania. As a Lithuanian, I really don't think we're any better than Australia or Canada at this point, at least judging from the exhibition games. We're just not playing like a well oiled machine at all, making tons of turnovers and aside from Sabonis/JV we really lack talent (backcourt especially). If I had to rate everyone's chances to win the group, I'd give Australia 40% (they're known to perform way better when it actually matters), Canada 30%, Lithuania around 25%, and Senegal 5%.

We have one guy that can match up with your bigs, but I imagine double teams will be in effect, especially when it's only JV or Sabonis on the floor at once. Canada's biggest strength right now is Nick Nurse. If Cory makes his way out, we definitely have Lithuania in the back court department along with Pangos.

Tomorrow is the deadline for the 12 man roster right?

Should be interesting to see what happens. Is Nembhard done? Is Heslip gonna show up? Is Keane ok to play?

Hopefully one of Keane or Nembhard is ok because it would be pretty huge to lose both imo

If they all can't go can we even field a full team?

Pangos Scrubb
Cory Best Notice
Ejim Scrubb
Wiltjer Brissett
Birch Klassen

That's 11. Am I missing anyone ?

No, you aren't missing anyone.
We need two of the four missing/injured guards (Joseph, Heslip, Keane, and Nembhard) to get to 12.

In the meantime, Australia makes USAB look like G-League team

I wonder if you could go back in time and show the canadians this USA roster, if theyd change their minds and play. Probably not. But theyd be contenders

Exactly why we need Cory to show up. He's the best defender we have.

He's probably a top 10 defender at the point guard position in the world. Cory can give guys like Kyrie a challenge, let alone Patty Mills. We aren't beating Australia without Cory.
