ibaka, powell, dwright for Butler and Dieng is a Godfather move by MU if he pulls it off

At this point, I'd throw in a protected 1st

This is a little out there but would anyone consider doing something like this:

To Toronto: Butler, Dieng
To Atlanta: Valanciunas, Powell
To Minnesota: Bazemore, Dedmon, FRP (via Suns)
To Phoenix: Wright

Lowry/Butler/Leonard/Ibaka/Dieng
FVV/Green/Anunoby/Siakam/Monroe

Monroe still wouldn't be in the rotation.

doubt the suns give up a 1st round pick for one year of Wright

PG is a very stacked position...They offered only a 2nd round pick to the sixers for McConnell and same w the nets for dinwiddie. I see both those players as more proven than Dwright. I don't see how they'd offer a first for Dwright.

And the hawks want young players and picks..not JV and a bad contract.

Sorry man, you have Kawhi playing two positions in the starting line up. What did you really mean?

Fair enough. I appreciate the critique.

Good thing is the Suns can be swapped out for the Spurs, who not only need a PG but also own our 2019 first (it won't be very valuable but hey) and Powell can be swapped out with Miles who I would argue has better value as a shooter on a reasonable deal. The Thunder are also looking for wing players.

Dieng is overpaid... at $8 like Dedmon he'd be awesome though. In todays NBA thats all you can pay a centre. Look at the Warriors for that model

Get Kosta Koufos from Sacramento, just because he's an expiring contract.
No, Koufos is a luxury not needed. I think this team is happy with Monroe, Jonas Valančiūnas and Serge Ibaka at the five and Siakam and Miles and to some extent Anunoby at the PF. This just gives us another C pushes Monroe to a DNP guy even moreso and a big log jam at the PF.

Miles is a shooter which will be valuable come playoff time

Wright is restricted. so they own him.

I mean Kawhi's so good he can cover 2 positions and we can play 4 on 5.

8-)

(I meant to start Siakam at the 4)

I am waiting for the fallout in the West. There will be good teams left out of the playoff picture, who may decide to change direction and blow up their squad. The problem is that the Raptors don't have expiring contracts or their 2019 1st to make a deal.

The only expendable pieces are Powell and Miles. :(

Delon Wright. I like him, but we'll have to give up something to get something.

I wonder if the Wolves would be interested in a Celts/Nets "mortgage the future" type trade.

We could do a reverse protected 2021 pick plus a future pick swap type thing.

We bet on retaining our stars and/or getting Giannis, etc. They bet on us striking out. Gives them valuable future trading assets.

Miles and Powell for Butler. That's a star or cap space trade (if Butler/Kawhi leave). Gives Masai all the options, other than tanking.

We keep all our useful rotation guys and add a star to the rotation. Deep and versatile everywhere. As good a shot as any for a Chip

Not needed with Danny Green. Miles' defense is akin to JV.

If the Raptors get Koufous, they can maybe trade Monroe to a team that later needs a big because of injury and lower that tax bill. :D

I was going to mention Shumpert but he had a monster breakout game, so maybe Sacramento would want more.

Powel, Miles and cash for Shumpert, McLemore and 2nd pick!!!

Not a big exciting trade but I think dealing Miles and his 8.3 million dollar salary to the Nuggets for Trey Lyles and his expiring 3.3 million salary makes some sense especially financially. Denver has trade exceptions to make this work. It also frees up dollars next year to resign either him or Delon. Basketball-wise it balances the roster a little more. This is probably something you look to do at the deadline if nothing else comes up and all our wings stay healthy.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Miles is decent but very inconsistent and only an average 3 point shooter when you tally it all up. So he's definitely moveable if a better fit becomes available.

I was just going to mention Shumpert too. He's a slightly bigger, better shooter and defender than Norm, while Norm's slightly younger and from Cali. Gives us a another versatile wing defender to throw at Boston, Philly, Golden State and LeBron. The more defense and shooting we can add the better.

Cant really think of a good Butler trade

Fred+Pascal+ Miles would work. But is that giving up too much?

Team would be

Lowry/Delon
Butler/ Powell
Kawhi/Green
OG/(We would need a free agent)
Ibaka/JV

Run a classic 9 man rotation in the playoffs and its pretty good.

Return to Toronto Raptors
