Then, as I was flipping through some papers, I notice one of the girls closing her eyes and putting her head back, and the other one putting the pipe down, and rubbing the other one's knee, before going to get a bottle of water.

So I watched for a minute or so from my peripheral line of sight to see if everything was alright. When I realized she wasn't really okay, and no one else sitting around them even bothered to ask or check on them, I casually got up and sat down next to the one that looked like she was passing out.

I did all the normal doctor stuff and checked her vitals, took her history, and gave my tentative diagnosis based on the physical findings, and then sat with them for about 20 minutes until their ride came. Ya mans abandoned his own sheesha to do some doctor stuff.

In the end she was alright. Her blood sugar levels dropped. Something, which i researched when I got back home. Turns out, in some people, nicotine blocks insulin entry into cells and can trigger a hypoglycemic episode. This girl wasn't a regular sheesha smoker, so she wasn't used to it anyway, and probably just inhaled too much. It's also possible they didn't move the coals around properly, and inhaled some carbon monoxide as a byproduct of the charcoal combustion, and that her symptoms were a light carbon monoxide poisoning.

Either way. It was an interesting encounter. And before anyone asks. No, I didn't get their numbers. Turns out they were 18 and 21. Too young. Also, y'know...it wouldn't have been ethical, and really creepy.
