Woj was on Rusillo's podcast show and starts talking about Kawhi around the 30 minute mark

http://www.espn.com/espnradio/play?id=25411205

Interesting insight.

- Says he isn't sure about chances of retaining Kawhi and the selling process still has to go on for the rest of the season
- Developing trust is the real key for him
- Best chance for Toronto (says Toronto feels this) is winning
- Says if it was about climate and the city, LA is the choice but they have to sell him on winning
- Says he has been told that Kawhi has been really pleased with the work he has done with Alex Mckechnie

No lie I met the man personally and I can say without a doubt I felt healthier just talking to him. Best in the NBA at what he does.

No one talks about that shady deal the Spurs have with Methodist Healthcare eh? Even Pau Gasol got a 2nd opinion this year. No one points that out in defence of Kawhi. Danny Green said he should have got a 2nd opinion last year.

Kawhi probably had a legit reason to want out.

Just don’t tell this to Spurs fans. They plug their ears and start screaming they can’t hear you.

Gasol is practically done. The Spurs doctors let him do basketball activities and then after that he got a second opinion which revealed a stress fracture on his foot which will keep him out longer. :o Or at least that's what I heard. Maybe someone can clarify the situation...

MINNEAPOLIS — Pau Gasol did not make the Spurs’ four-game road trip that ended Wednesday in Minnesota.

It could be a while before he is back on the court at all.

Further testing has revealed a stress fracture in the troublesome left foot that has already caused Gasol to miss the past 12 games.

The 38-year-old center had recently progressed to some on-court work before getting the disappointing news.

“He was (back on the court) and then they took him off,” coach Gregg Popovich said. “We got a second opinion that it was a stress fracture, so they put him back in the (walking) boot.”

There is no firm timetable for Gasol to return, but Popovich said the veteran has been missed on the Spurs’ second unit.

Pau Gasol won't be returning any time soon.

According to Jeff McDonald of San Antonio Express-News, the 38-year-old center will be sidelined indefinitely due to a stress fracture in his left foot.

“He was (back on the court) and then they took him off,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich told reporters Wednesday. “We got a second opinion that it was a stress fracture, so they put him back in the (walking) boot.”

Gasol had missed the team's past 12 games after playing in the first nine. The 18-year veteran began the season off of the bench for the first time in his career, averaging 6.8 points and 6.1 rebounds in 17.4 minutes per contest.

Could a doctor explain how it's possible to miss a stress fracture? Isn't that a broken bone?

Alex is a great, great starting point with Kawhi.

Next is a good solid relationship with Kyle, and then a real good mutual relationship with Coach Nurse.

But perhaps the most important thing of all, for everyone involved, is a relationship with Masai and upper management (Tannebaum etc.)

I see this and above all a close relationship with Masai Ujiri, being the key , alongside winning.

We need to make another move or two, our bench unit hasn't played up to standard, but nonetheless, Alex is a great place to start.

He received a call from one of the first people he had ever treated at Simon Fraser. It was Jay Triano, who had once played on the basketball team there and had gone on to coach the Toronto Raptors. He had read in the L.A. Times that McKechnie was out of contract and informed his old friend that their general manager at the time, Bryan Colangelo, wanted to talk to him.

At first, the Scot was not interested, acknowledging instead that the Lakers would pursue the renewal of contracts after the lockout.

Triano called him back a couple of days later with the green light, persuading McKechnie and his wife to fly to Toronto where he told Colangelo he would not accept the role unless he ran the show. Seven years later, his impact is such that the Raptors are about to spend their fifth consecutive training camp in Vancouver.

One of Leiweke's greatest coups was snatching this guy from LA while the Lakers were in turmoil.
