Apart from Delon and Pascal, all our guys from last year have not just gotten a bit worse but truly fallen off the 3pt map. Anyone want to suggest why?

Last year was the outlier. Several guys (like OG and FVV) shot better than they actually are, for whatever reason. They over-performed.

This year we are seeing actual 3 pt shooting abilities. CJ is basically a career league average 3 pt shooter so I wouldn't be surprised if he finds his shot and goes on a hot streak to bring his 3P% back to around 36%.

I hope management recognizes that FVV and OG should not be relied upon to make 3s. Serge is dialed in as far as the midrange so I actually don't want him shooting 3s if it might mess up his rhythm or mechanics.

We should get Delon more catch and shoot opportunities. Basically have him spot up where CJ/OG etc would. See if his % can continue with more volume (I think it can).

It would be wise for us to acquire a more reliable 3 point threat off the bench. Anthony Tolliver would be my target since Ariza will get most of the focus.

Another ball-handler who can create for himself to get shots, including 3s, would be huge. That guy is basically Beal as far as rumors of availability go.

JV is awesome on at $7-9m per year. He's just being paid too much and as a result stands out. Any team would love him at that rate.

Can’t just be a slump when it is consistent throughout our entire team. CJ, Lowry, Fred, OG all are shooting terrible.

To me this seems to be a prep and practice issue. Whatever the coaching staff is doing to prepare them for games in between is having a deteriment to their shooting. Whether thats over emphasis of plays, eorking out whatevrr it may be but i haven’t heard once that players staying late in the gym late nights to work on shots. Could have been west coast trip made everyone tired. But last few years we would hear Lowry putting up shots late night, same with Norm etc. whenever their shot was off, don’t hear anything this year.

To me if the whole team is shooting terrible then the finger should be pointed to the coaching staff, what are they doing different? I dont see any team bug or sickness affecting them so the fact its most of the team is concerning.

Nick Nurse’s offence is the problem. There’s very little ball movement and players are almost never open. We’ve got Kawhi and FVV dribbling the air out of the ball while our “shooters” stand around and watch.

Pascal is making open 3s this year. Delon is making. We should be WAY better than last season but we’re leaving points and Ws on the board with brutal shotmaking overall. And it’s more than a slump at this point, after tonight we’re 1/3rd into the season.

Can’t hurt your team’s 3PT% numbers if you always have a foot on the 3pt line

We're in a slump. I think certain players are capable of shooting a lot better.

Have patience

BLake Murphy had a fantastic article on this. We are getting open looks we just aren’t hitting them. High variance with the three and you can’t control that

What's crazy to me is that almost the entire team is in a slump. I can see 1 or maybe two guys, but having 4 or 5 of our best 3 point shooter go cold at the same time.......WTH....

I can't seem to upload the shot chart, but you can see it here:

https://stats.nba.com/events/?flag=3&CFID=155&CFPARAMS=2018-19&TeamID=1610612761&ContextMeasure=FGA&Season=2018-19&section=team&sct=hex

Pretty abysmal shooting from the top of the arc - it seems to me there isn't a lot of discipline over three point shot selection this year. Not clear if it's because Kawhi takes them so they've taken the rules away on that, but there are a lot of guys that shouldn't be taking those threes.

Also no areas of above average shooting - we were sharp from the right corner last year.

If someone has some time it would be good to breakdown the player-by-player charts more.

Our ball movement is garbage - everyone standing around watching Kawhi - And it is great to be in awe of him but Kyle needs to go for those long three bombs from time to time. He can hit them and he seems generally better in transition. We are not moving it and leaning on Kawhi too much

I've always hated iso ball. We are doing far too much of it. Much too easy to defend. We learned this years ago. Need the who team engaged in the offensive possession.

This is the part that has me worried. I have a hard time believing that the ENTIRE team can be in a slump at the same time.

A poster in another thread mentioned replacing our shooting coach. I have no idea who the hell our shooting coach even is (or if they're new this year), but it's something worth looking into.

Might make sense to give Richardson some burn. He'd be an upgrade over Miles on both ends.

Kawhi is an extremely efficient iso scorer. We're not leading the league in open 3s, but we're getting our fair share. We're just bricking a ton of them.

I suspect our shooters have no rhythm with
Kawhi / Green taking so many shots

It isn't possible to know. Just throwing the idea out there because most people don't consider that they over-performed last year. We won't know for another season.
