Is Pascal Siakam untouchable in your opinion?

Post#1 » by Troubadour » Tue Jan 29, 2019 7:18 pm

Reasons why he is untouchable:
- DeRozan-esque work ethic
- Perfect fit for modern NBA
- Excels at a position that is difficult to fill
- Young and under team control for foreseeable future

Reason(s) why he is available in a trade:
- You could get Anthony Davis

I personally cannot think of another reason other than the prospect of a legitimate superstar coming back. As a fan, I am obviously attached to Siakam and his meteoric rise as a Raptor, but his all-star buzz and MIP case make the emotions of it backed up with facts.

There is also the bigger question of team-building philosophy from a fan's perspective. Do you want to sell off the prospects we have invested time in supporting and watching develop for a superstar who does not have that same connection with the franchise?

Curious to see how people evaluate Siakam and how this question ties into their broader perspective on fandom.

No! You include him in a Davis deal and feel amazing about it!

Not untouchable. I would trade Siakam for any top 10 player without thinking twice.

9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

Why would you even ask this when just about everyone has included him in potential AD deals?! lol It's damn near trollin.

We all LOVE Spicy but no one is untouchable unless they're a superstar.

No one is absolutely untouchable.

But of those players who might be put into a trade, his is the last name I would want to see.

I’d rather spicy P for 6 more years than AD for 1. Not worth it for a rental

Maybe if was 19 or 20. But he's turning 25 in a few months. Even Davis is only a year older than him.
I love Pasclamps and believe he'll be an All-Star but there is absolutely no logical reason why you wouldn't want to move him for a guy of AD's caliber.

Yeah if that is a given MAYBE...

But it's not a given. If say we did get AD and went to the Finals and challenged GSW (who won't be able to retain everyone) then what more could AD/Kawhi possibly want (insert "punchline" LAL lol yeah got it)?! They both say they want to win rings and they would be competing for it year in and year out here. If they bounce then ok you called their bluff because if Kawhi does in fact go to the Clippers he's got no chance and AD/Bron are good for maybe a year and even them as a duo are not a shoe in to win it all, then what?!

Regardless teams would have to trade with us to get AD and I'm confident with a GM like Masai that we could get back a player of equal caliber to Siakam. Keep in mind that a lot of him is due to our excellent player development. The majority of guys we drafted would likely be wash outs on most rosters but we build them up. Even a guy like Ingram,(and Kuzma) has excellent talent so there would be a good base to work with and build up likewise as a worst case scenrio. So imo this isn't much of win/lose situation.

To me it's almost all win because it gives this franchise it's absolute best chance to compete for a championship, moments/opportunities like this only sometimes come once in a lifetime where a franchise is on the verge of truly competing. The downside is losing Kawhi (which was assumed) at the "expense" of DD's bloated contract and just treadmilling and trading AD for a bunch of prospects/picks to replenish what we gave up. The upside however is tremendous if both guys see the clear & obvious awesome potential they have to start a potentially dynastic duo where here whole laundry list of contracts come off our books next off season and we bring them in yet another stud and they/we all have an entirely different legacy than hoping on the coattails of LBJ, just sayin.

I really likes what he does, but he's not untouchable for me. I would trade him for a top tier player. I also have concerns of him injuring his knee. I've seen too many awkward/one leg landings to think that this doesn't come back to bite him at some point.

not untouchable if AD is in play.

i get the debate for Beal, okay fanbase 50-50 or 60-40 to not trade him for Beal.

We only have one untouchable player and he is under load management to keep his systems in optimal functioning condition until playoffs.

they are playing for 2nd...their mentally is, I rather continue to be ok than win it all.

Not a winners mentally " I rather finish in the conference finals than go all in for the finals so I can compete for 9th in the east next year"
