Marc was the perfect piece of puzzle for us that year. JV was and still is an all around great asset.

I believe that JV is already a contender starter level player because he will always be contract friendly and has a consistent enough skill set to make a solid impact every game.
Ideally you want your guard or ur wing to run your team that's where u want to throw ur money at, JV is a great solution to fill the center position where no team really wants to invest big money in.

LMAO. A few people still regret the JV Gasol trade? Come on. We won a championship with Gasol. We dont know if we would have won a championship with JV. How can anyone regret winning a championship over the possibility of winning a championship? It blows my mind.

I love JV as a player and he was a key player for us. I am cheering him on as a Grizzlies player too. But to regret the JV Gasol trade is ridiculous.

Over their last 9 games, which include 2 7 game type play ins vs Spurs/Pop, GS/Curry & taking game 1 against the top seed in the NBA

Memphis are 3rd in defense, 2nd in opponent FG%.as the 2nd youngest team in the league.

Jonas put up 15/12/3/2 & led the starters in +/- with +15 in a one possession win vs the top seed that lives & dies by the 3 ball.

Jazz have the best post defense/defender that some think should be MVP, a very good pnr PG in Conley & 4 players that light you up from 3. It's supposed to be the worse possible defensive matchup for Jonas on both ends.

Jonas injured his knee 3rd Q but had to play 39 minutes because he was the only Memphis big able to contain Gobert & Favors. with 3J -19 & Tillman -10 having off games.

Magic & Philly were 2 poor 3pt shooting teams that Raptors were able to cheat off of. Giannis was boxed out & the young Memphis squad with Jonas just beat out Curry at his best in a one off. Where in Gasol's 2nd season without Kawhi, Boston used the corner 3 to stretch the **** out of him as Lebron/Love Cavs would have.

What's funny when people talk about Gasol's defensive playoff run, none mention he was playing with Kawhi & Green's perimeter defense, not Derozan's perimeter defense.

Raptors got a ring, can't argue that. Memphis says thank you.

Ibaka has only played 13 minutes against the Mavericks the other day. What the hell is Lue thinking? No matter who he puts at C, they get killed on the Doncic PnR anyway.

Who knows, but if we hadn't made that move we would have lost to the Sixers in 2019. Don't forget we won that series by a single basket where Embiid put up 17.6 PPG on 37% shooting. If he'd been allowed to do more, we would have been a second round exit.

Gasol did really well in limiting Embiid's individual scoring numbers, but his inability to command respect offensively, allowed Embiid to dominate the Raptors defensively. You should check the numbers, iirc, his defensive rating was crazy.

The 76ers put Embiid on Siakam and roamed as necessary while they hid poor defenders like Harris onto Gasol who was barely guarded.

I think the Raptors would've had a healthier Kawhi after that series with JV.

I think the Raptors would have won with JV too, but one is thing is to believe in something, and way another thing is to have had something happened for a fact. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

I'd love to have JV back. Our C rotation is our achilles heel now.

What are the odds Kawhi bounces this summer? Already rumours linking him to the Heat. Would be a snake move by him if he leaves.

Playoff Powell FTW!!!!

Lillard goes 1 for 10 and Powell steps up with 29 on 73% shooting! :o

Crazy stat in last night's 147-140 win by Denver over Portland.

Norm shot 5 for 14 for 13 points, which seems pretty bad.

But...

The game went to double OT which is 48+5+5 = 58 minutes played.

Norm was +11 in 51 minutes played.

Which means that in the 7 minutes Norm did not play Portland was -18!

Despite his poor shooting Norm sure must have been doing something right!

Great fit. Seems like both teams won that trade. Similar as the Gasol-JV trade.
