Red you called it before the series started. He really stepped up big time when his minutes were extended.

Wouldn't mind seeing him take away most of Green's minutes

It depends how much you value having an actual bench, but Powell should be getting more minutes than Green

I wouldn't mind seeing him cut into FVV's minutes too.

It was speculated that he would rejuvenate against the team that got him the huge contract, but most people probably said that in jest.
What is it against Bucks that makes him shoot with confidence and drive with force?

It's the driving. He's going so hard to the rim. That's how you know he's feeling it. Hopefully he keeps it up.

Norm’s always had a short leash with our coaches for whatever reason. They never let him play thru those tough times and it killed his confidence.

I think it was game 2, and he hit 2 3’s in a row then got subbed out while FVV was playing like trash and left in the game — all because of stubborn rotations.

That may have been the most emotion ever displayed from a Raptors player. On the SN broadcast, they showed Norm a couple of times on the bench - after fouling out on that bogus Lopez push, when MIL missed the FT Norm was screaming to the point he was almost crying (and was shouting stuff hard to make out - a la Ball Don’t Lie stuff). There was another clip where he was screaming and flushed in the face, maybe after the Kawhi dunk in 2OT.

The guy wants it bad. I’ve always respected and rallied around Norm for how he’s exceeded expectations from day #1 post-draft (well Vegas SL onwards) but he’s earned a new level of respect from me.

I will never question his will to win.

You could really see his speed/ athleticism was needed. Big difference from Green. Defensively they are pretty close. It's tough playing Green when he isn't lights out from 3.

He was the only guy outside kawhi not afraid to shoot. He was still making bone head plays like driving into traffic just to turn it over but they needed the aggression.

Boogie! wrote:Board needs to stop flip flopping on norm Powell. He's always deserved consistent minutes. Imagine if Powe was given fvvs leeway. Norm Powell has a specific skillset that is worth investing in. If he becomes consistently a 35% shooter at least, he's probably the best roke player we have.

He gives back every positive play he makes with turnovers and rushed shots.

He really doesn’t deserve consistent minutes but when he has it going let him run,

I loved to finally see one of our bench guys exude so much confidence. Dude was yelling out there, talking trash, and he just looked immensely hyped the whole game. We need Powell to bring that for game 4 too.

Technically they're the team that drafted him. Revenge factor?

It was game 1 and the worst thing about it was he was taken out early in the 2nd and didn't even get back in the game until like 2minutes left in the 3rd by then he was cold and our offensive struggles carried over to the 4th where only lowry scored

First time I agree with what Boogie is saying. Although this season, Norm is shooting 48& from the field and 40 from 3. In the post season 49% from the field and 45% from 3. He needs more minutes.

With the emergence of FVV, it really has set Norm back the last couple of seasons. FVV holds the ball for way too long and doesn't allow anyone else to create. Norm is someone that needs the ball to attack so it puts him in the threat of driving which leaves him open for jump shots. I get that he's not a traditional point guard but they really need to allow him to be a Lou Will like player off of the bench.

I need more than one game before I even think about praising powell. Can he do it in the next game ? He's basically given us 1 good game out of every series. Thats nothing for me to overhype and praise man. Can he do it in game 4 ? There's a reason why I call him normfad.. He's likes a fad that comes and goes. Is it going to be normgod in game 4, or normfad ? Tune for the answer tomorrow.

NormGod is the best option off the bench. Not saying that's a good thing. That's our reality right now.

Why does Norman have to prove himself constantly yet FVV keep getting minutes despite his crappy play?
