If Wiggins really wanted to play he would reschedule his camp. He rented out a Vaughan high school gym not the ACC

A better turnout than can be reasonably expected, if everyone there shows that would be awesome. You want to have versatility and be able to trot out different lineups which this depth allows. It also eliminates the need to rely on severely flawed players like a Heslip. No offence to Brady as one could certainly make the case for him even on this team, but he's a situational end of bench guy not someone who should be in your regular rotation.

As our likely three most impactful international players, Murray, CoJo and Olynyk will be featured heavily. SGA is a must with his athleticism, ability to guard a few positions and run some point if need be. I think Pangos is also a must, gives you a pure point with international experience who's a lights out 3 point shooter, he fills a lot of needs.

For bigs you'd add in Powell, Tristan and Birch. Powell can give you a bit of everything. Tristan while flawed internationally is still athletic and a strong rebounder and on this team won't be relied upon. Birch is a no brainer as by far the best rim protector with FIBA experience on top of that. Though a bit redunant it would be hard to keep a guy as talented as Lyles off the team

Wings are pretty weak overall, hoping at least one of Barrett or Brooks can play. Ejim is next up and probably makes the team regardless. You're then looking at a Stauskas or Scrubb brother which as deep bench options are not bad by any stretch

Strong take - nothing to disagree with here. I could maybe see Stauskas having a more important role than you imply - as I am doubtful Barrett and/or Brooks plays.

I'd be surprised if any of the NBA Rookies or College guys are on the roster including R.J. Barrett. I'd be SUPER surprised, like more surprising than Kawhi going to Clippers.

I'm disappointed in Wiggins.
But I'm still confident he's gonna have a big year next season.
I've heard he's been working on his game non-stop this summer.

Depends how far the other FIBA Americas teams go. Only the top-2 Americas teams get an Olympics birth through the World Cup.

Everyone keeps talking about Wiggins In this thread, which I don’t agree with, but how about that roster of guys interested in suiting up. This team in 2020 and 2024 could be Olympic medalists if some of these guys develop into starting nba caliber players with an all star or two mixed in. Happy to see kabengele and Clarke on there. I feel like those two could compliment eachother down the line and Form a nice duo at 4 and 5 for us.

The future looks very bright from team Canada. A mix of young and veteran players.

As for Wiggins, why send an invite to someone that was non committal in previous years. Don't need that poor attitude rubbing off on the young guys.

It’s possible he wouldn’t have been invited even if he’d scheduled his camp around it. Presumably we’re trying to win.

Other than that, it's a pretty great turnout. Everyone else is there that we wanted. I'm excited.
wiggins is getting paid so much money that he doesn't care. He's doing the bare minimum to keep collecting his check. Guys like Wiggins and Brags got into basketball only for the money. They ever had the ambition to be great at it. Wiggins probably don't even care if he makes the playoffs.
