i think our best lineup next year will be

lowry
FVV
Pascal
ibaka
gasol

Nurse mentioned he might play Pascal at the 3...do you guys think it will help or hurt his game?

Pascal can play point guard if you really want....he just wouldn't be as successful as he would be playing his natural position of power forward.

Serge can ONLY play situational PF so thats really even worse than playing Pascal at the 3.

Yeah, Siakam is more of a wing than a big.

I like that lineup if OG and Stanley stay trash. Ibaka is better than both of them and he's not happily coming off the bench for a non-contender.

Power Forwards are basically Small Forwards now, so it's not a big difference. You need perimeter skills to play both positions.

Siakam can play any position for varying amount of time. He's a PF though and the best player on the team, so he should get dibs on PF.

Id rather send Gasol to the bench
Lowry
Powell
OG
Siakam
Ibaka

FVV and Gasol off the bench makes us deep!

Yes, I expect that to be our go to lineup next year. Siakam is a better perimeter defender than he is an interior defender. Would love for him to stay at PF but we will need him to play SF out of necessity. Ibaka is too good to be a backup with this roster.

Obviously we had Kawhi but the big lineup showed it can flourish against the sixers, who were probably the 3rd best team last year. We lack 3 point shooting anyways so might as well play to our strength.

Pascal's biggest advantage is that he's too fast for most PFs to guard. Defensively he can guard almost anyone with the exception of elite bigs. Why would we take away his biggest strength? Gasol and Ibaka can work in the same line up and I have no doubt Nurse will use that in certain match ups, but we're slow like that and they're also older and can't do it every night anymore. It's better to rotate them like we did last year.

Keep Siakam at the 4. Let's not mess with our biggest weapon.

Position doesn't really matter all that much. The thing I want to see Pascal do next season is running the pick and roll as a ball handler. He has the handles and playmaking to do it, the bigs in Ibaka and Gasol too.

The NBA where positions are made up and contracts don’t matter

If this was 30 years ago Pascal would be destroyed at the 4 but league is getting small so he fits into PF nicely.

Can he? Yes
Should he? No

There's no reason for this unless circumstance calls for it. We have so many forwards already and less bigs not to mention spacing already being an issue

Positions don't matter for a guy like Siakam, just like they don't matter for Giannis or Paul George. If you can handle the ball, have length, and play defence, you can play 1-4.

And no, I don't think Ibaka should start. I think Siakam continues at the 4 and we throw in either OG or Stanley in the lineup, whoever takes the bigger leap.

Siakam can play SF but its probably going to be used situationally.

If another good option at the PF spot becomes available, I can see Pascal being moved to the 3 and thriving at that spot.

But I think he's a perfect modern day 4. Has the size, speed, strength & shooting needed for a modern PF and can defend 1 - 5 positions.

And when he loses his athleticism, it'll probably be easy to transition him to smallball Center position.

Nah, we can’t start Ibaka & Gasol, we need a big who can give us some offence off the bench. I’d start OG or Rondae at the 4

He's too big for lots of small forwards. Either works.

I want to see if Johnson has the handle to play SG.
As for Siakam at SF, I think if we play RHJ at PF, we might see that happen.
This lineup will get us a post up opportunity against other teams SG/SF:
Lowry-Johnson-Siakam-RHJ-Ibaka

Thats a tank team.

Stanley is a career 30% 3 pt shooter
RHJ is a career 22%

Players in the NBA don't have to take 3s, but they do need to make them. Meaning they don't need to force it or look to make 3s, but another player has given them a wide open look, they gotta drain. Those guys can't do that.
