Wiretap: Raptors Work Out Isaiah Taylor

Post#1 » by OakleyDokely » Wed Sep 11, 2019 12:39 pm

The Toronto Raptors will work out Isaiah Taylor.

Taylor has previously played in the NBA with the Houston Rockets and Atlanta Hawks. Taylor suffered a stress fracture in his leg during camp last season when he was trying to make the roster of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Taylor has also worked out for the Phoenix Suns, Boston Celtics and Denver Nuggets.

Another Fred Van Vleet finding attempt. Its nice giving opportunities to guys whose stock is very low. If this guy can bounce back from his injury, could be a keeper.

There are zero minutes available you would think. Anyone want to explain this one to me?

905 tryout (i'm guessing) as they need a PG after Loyd left.

I'm thinking Taylor and Payne are set to duke it out in training camp for 3rd PG duties. Winner doesn't get released.

They are searching for the Vanvleet replacement. Whom ever proofs themselves in 905 with some call ups allows trading Fred.

Terrence Davis?
Interviewer: Championship #2?
Ujiri: Hey...We're gonna get it. I don't know when it'll be, but we're gonna get it. Just like I said we'll get the first one and I said I didn't know when we'd get it...But we will. Guarantee you we will.

Terrence Davis?

Some healthy competition for that spot.

Or use both + mccaw for a 5 PG line

He's quick.

There definitely some healthy competition for that 3rd string pg going into camp.

unless you think FVV is staying long term on a bloated contract, FVV Is most likely gone at trade deadline with one of Gasol or Serge.

well isn't he a UFA? It would like be taking on a bad contract + youngish star player if you traded away Gasol or Serge + FVV - which im fine with. I don't think FVV is an elite starting point guard in this league so i don't want to overpay him knowing Lowry is on his last legs of being a high calibre player etc.

I kind of thought this forum was past worrying that every free agent leaves or requires too much to stay.

What you are really talking 'about is scrapping it all and rebuilding. They wouldn't go half way here and just trade two guys and let everyone else expire. And I don't think they even go part way this year after winning. And if they did I'm not certain FVV gets caught in that. He would hardly be the first guy with Gasol, Ibaka AND Lowry expiring.

But I have serious doubts that Payne and Taylor replace him.
