Celtics are always overrated.

They have dogged players like Lowry on their forum for years and if they ever had him on their team they would all enamour he’s top 3 pg in NBA.

That’s one team I love to see suffer. Bunch of overrated players.

Surprised Simmons isn’t predicting they will win 60 games this year.

Of course it is a tournament... it is still the World Cup, and it is a big deal and that does not change just because US and Canada NBA players did not show. The players and fans of the non North America countries are still very invested.

Typical North American attitude.... we aren't winning, so it's "not really a tournament"

Settle down, don't be such a cry baby.

There was zero allure to this tournament with all NA players dropping out, there's no arguing that. The level of interest wasn't there this year from NA due all of these players dropping out. It was a joke of a tournament and yes since USA players did not show, it lowers the value of the entire tournament.

Crybaby!? LOL, wtf. I am just stating facts. I am FROM North America.
You are wrong on all counts. There was zero allure for most Americans, because they only care if they know they can win. The other countries care. Don't cheapen it for them, there is NO ASTERISK for the team that wins this tournament.

I haven't watched the tournament at all, but I must say that by looking at France's roster, there's no shame in losing to that team. Gobert, Batum, Nando, Fournier, Frank, etc - those are all decent players. I'd say it was an upset, but hardly a historic one. If it were a 7 game series between those teams, it would probably go 6 or 7.

France is a good team and matches up well against US. They had more NBA level players than what we had. If we had a few more NBA level players I am confident we could have made it in. Congrats to France.

Moiso was a bum. I remember he had a solid post season with either Philly or New Orleans and we signed him.

He had back to back double doubles and after that he rode the pine for the remainder of the season.

Try getting out of your bubble. US is just a small part of the World, the rest of it still watching the tournament with great interest.

someone should calculate the total player salaries for each country...I bet USA is the highest paid team by a large margin, and that's their B or C team, whatever you want to call them.

The fact that USA isn't stacked this year makes the tournament even more interesting since there's actually more competition, and it's an elimination tournament so anything can happen.

Team USA could've used Fred VanVleet on the roster

If guys like Joe Harris, Derrick White, and Smart can make the team, why not him?

Terrible wasted opportunity by Team Canada to medal and qualify for the Olympics. People need to be held accountable.

not saying it's not a wasted opportunity but to me it just shows the crazy hill the Canadian roster has to climb. US usually overcomes the continuity disadvantage by out-talenting teams. Even if all Canadian NBA players showed, they'd have the same continuity disadvantage they do and their roster is probably still stronger talent-wise even after dozens of no shows. They probably qualify for the Olympics, though that's not a given, and I still think medalling would be a challenge.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

dude nobody cares!!! Maybe the fans care NOW, but the players clearly are more focus on the NBA season, and I can't say I blame them. Only in recent years Canada Basketball started really giving a sh*t themselves. It's not like funding was always there. Now that these guys bust their behinds to get to the NBA the country cares about them playing for Canada. Canada basketball and soccer Canada has been underfunded for years!

Wise words. There was a time when Toronto ("The Good") was so, so boring.

Because those 3 are miles better than Fred Van Vleet.
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

LOL. What an epic year that'd be for the legend, Marc. Dude's parade performance was legendary. With one more epic celebration performance after a Spain victory, I think the HOF needs to make an exception for the man and get him in.
