Video: OG New Shooting Form Adjustments

Post#1 » by nabbs » Wed Oct 2, 2019 11:26 pm

It's clear that that the release/set point is much higher, he isn't pushing the ball and he is holding that follow through. I'd still like to see his guide hand and shooting hand more balanced on the follow through but this is the best I have seen it

He's gonna need to get that 3pter working this season, we're relying on him heavily to help supplement that perimeter shooting.

I have high hopes for OG this season, he has the potential and lots of experience now, and he should be healthy and moved on from his Father's Death. Dont let me down kiddo.

I hope OG really took in a lot of what Kawhi did and asked for as much help and questions as he could while he was here. Hopefully his shot falls, Ross was a pretty bad shooter his first year too, I remember how long it took him to gather his shot, and he worked on his form to become a semi reliable shooter. If OG becomes a 3 and D player as a floor, I will be happy, though if he adds more, I would be ecstatic.

good the "release-start" seems higher ...would like Stanley Johnson to do the same; his mechanics look good but his "release-start" should be higher.
I dont know why all those youngens players are not shown KD's at an early age..

He really needs to develop some sort of handle.

Totally, but being a better shooter will give him more space to drive. I don’t think he’ll ever have the handle of someone like Simmons who can still get to the rim without a shot. Even last year I saw OGs handling ability was much better against weaker players when he was able to slow his game down, as opposed to rushing his drives and getting out of control.

He has big hands so it should be easier for him to develop handle than other players. Hopefully that happens eventually. It’s doubtful he develops his handles to an elite level like Paul George did but I think he can get it to an above average level eventually.

I'm rooting for OG, I hope his has a heck of a year. If he can space the floor reliably next to Pascal, that'll really help our offense flow.

I hope OG & Norm take another step in their game.

Great form!

Seems like it's not automatic yet, hence slower release.

His feet look way better as well. His right foot used to land quite a bit forward where he never really looked balanced.

His elbow is also tucked in more which shows more balance and squares is better.

I like it. Looks like a faster, more compact release with less of a hitch.

The guide hand is still on top of the ball instead of just glazing the side. Oh well as long as he’s consistent with the shot

This isn't meant to be negative, but are there any specific accounts of guys becoming much better shooters after changing their shooting form in the middle of their NBA career?
