More TD and Thomas, less McCaw. Hopefully Konate gets to play (sit Serge out). These games are meaningless anyways, play the 905 guys.

D'Antoni believes
“I wasn’t surprise that they (won the title), they were a really good team. Anytime you have the team that they had and then they added Marc Gasol halfway through the year, you know they’d be really good,” D’Antoni said, via Ryan Wolstat of the Toronto Sun.
“They’re one of the teams again, that even without Kawhi Leonard will be contending for a title. They have a lot of players that can play. Now, will it be harder? Maybe. Kawhi is obviously Kawhi, but they’ll still be one of the top teams (in the NBA).”

I wanna see the D league bound guys get some minutes in this game so we can see what we have. Guys like Hernandez, konate, robinson. Rest serge and start Fred, Norm, OG, Pascal and Hernandez.

Seeing those little gold tags on the back of the neck collar makes me feel a type of a way.

I wonder if Adam Silver asked teams to take these games in Asia a bit more serious bc of the China controversy?
I know there wasn’t much defense but both teams put on a show and the starters played a good amount of mins for a preseason opener

I'm predicting the team looks alot more organized with Marc on the floor
Will be interesting to see if they bring Ibaka off the bench or start him

Raptors should adopt Kawhi's mentality and load manage our key players.

I think it'll be even more organized with Lowry actually.

D'Antoni KNOWS.
Kawhi in large part carried us through many moments because our whole system was built around his style. Now, it isn't. We have birds who will FLY - and flock together. This is one of the teamiest teams in recent memory, plus we have the Champ mentality. We are STRONG.

These games are totally useless. Toronto is not really using any real defensive schemes. I mean Harden just kept spamming the same ISO option and Toronto made little to no adjustment.
That said, the opportunity is for the 8/9 spots in the roation. Guys like McCaw, Davis and to a lesser extent Thomas are really just their to compete for back-up minutes. They gave some run to Powell who played well, but I felt like Nurse wanted to take a long look at the new guys and how they mesh with FVV.
Stanley Johnson barely got any run, and I don't see how he fits in Toronto. On offense I have zero confidence in him, but I really want to see if his defense is that great. Maybe they should start him on Harden just to see if he truly is a stopper.
Yesterday, RHJ the Arizona guy got nutmegged and abused on several possessions by Harden the Arizona State guy. Maybe it was a rivalry thing, but RHJ did not look like any world class defender. He looked like Antoine Wright out there getting embarrassed.
Really I low-key hated those two signings, but I think Nurse should not just test the young guys, but give run to these vets too.

And 1 for the proper use of the word teamiest.

To add to that, I don’t think I’ve heard one talking head give Nurse any credit for the chip or bring up the possibility that Nurse is a good coach that could’ve learned a lot from the title run and come back as a better coach. His creativity and outside the box(and-1) thinking was a big part in winning it all.
