The Raptors' Wild Ride to Ultimate Victory

Post#1 » by fbalmeida » Mon Oct 21, 2019 4:15 pm

On the eve of an NBA season that is likely to bring us a more levelled ratio of ups and downs than the previous one, I've decided to create this thread as a personal homage to a beloved team I've been unflaggingly proud to support from the day Isaiah Thomas burst threw a purple dinosaur. Consider this a one-stop thread for reminiscing, when needed.

Come what may of this next season - from an imperious title repeat, to an 0-82 collapse, or anything else in between - the Toronto Raptors are and will forever be, the 2019 NBA Champions.

Man that last hustle play by Leonard is just wow! That's such a play where we've lost so many games. I hope someone fills that niche. He was always in the right place at the right time.

I still can't believe we're champs. I cant wait to get my ring tomorrow.....err... Replica lol

In retrospect, and despite Kawhi's stardom obfuscating all the rest, it's amazing how this championship rests on top of such an enormous pile of so many "not so little things" done very well. Even ignoring the finals itself:

Siakam dropping 30 on game 3 against Orlando.
Gasol shutting down Embid.
Kawhi's magical opening game against the 76ers, dropping 45.
The magical team effort in the game 5 blowout against the 76ers.
The shot.
Our D- shutting down the lane for Giannis, about as best as anyone can be expected to.
Powell pulling through against the Bucks in the double OT win in game 3.
The bench winning us game 4 to tie the series with the Bucks at 2.
The 27-3 run in game 6.

With Kawhi gone, everyone's "not so little things" should get more visibility this year.
