He was a point forward in high school and college. The sixers are trying to force him into a point guard because Fultz failed. Simmons would thrive on a team like ours where we have a point guard that can shoot and handle half court duties while Simmons could run the transition offense.

It’s just a bad fit in philly. He would ball on a team full of shooters.

First thought was: He'll develop range and be the best point guard in the league. Fair enough. I would have thought the same thing.

Reality: He's a PF/C with great ball handling and passing. Awesome in transition.

Thinking Holiday + Ingram for Simmons + Contracts. New Orleans has a phenomenal core and Philly has easily the best team in the league.

Except we already have a point forward who does everything better than Simmons except for dribble and pass, but Pascal is pretty good at those things too. Simmons would make a good backup point forward for the Raptors. Too bad his contract and ego would never allow him to be that.

He should stop playing PG and instead try to model himself after Giannis. The problem is post up center in Embiid is the wrong fit for his game. He needs a stretch 5 beside him.

Sixers played themselves paying Simmons, Harris and Horford instead of maxing Jimmy

Never understood how a team that lost 2 key pieces in Butler and Reddick was considered the best team in the East In pre-season.

Tobias Harris??? Lol they’re 2nd round fodder again.

The Harris contract and letting JJ go were big mistakes

After Butler walked, they had no choice but to re-sign Harris considering what they gave up for him. Losing Butler, Harris & Reddick in the same off season would've been a tough pill to swallow. Butler was able to take some of the pressure off of Simmons, now that he's no longer in the picture; he's back under the microscope. He's shooting with the wrong hand, watching his tapes from HS/College; I was surprised that he was shooting with his left. All of his body movements etc. lean towards him being a right hand dominant player.

If the 76ers had shooters all around him, they'd be fine. But the rest of the roster can't hit 3s either.

The team that takes the most 3s, HOU, plays with Capela and he can't shoot 3s either. A lot teams have one guy on the court who can't hit them and just plays in the paint. But you have to build the rest of the team around that type of player. The 76ers havent done a good job of that.

Nah they had always envisioned him as a point guard. That’s why taking Fultz and trading for Fultz was so damn strange. They just have no idea how to complete a roster. It’s like colangelo is still lingering there or something.

He just wont be able to work out in Philly because he won't ever shoot and he cant be just coasting in the dunker spot.

Two trades that Philly should defenitely explore is :

1. CJ Mccollum and Afernee Simmons for Ben

A. Simmons
CJ
Tobias
Horford
Embiid

... still would need to move Horford and get Tobias playing the 4 spot.

2. Simmoms + filler to GSW for D'angelo + Draymond

That's a pretty good trade, good job with thinking of it.

Philly

Holiday
Richardson
Harris
Hoford
Embiid

Still very long, with more shooting and same level of passing, defence and Ingram off the bench.

NO

Ball
JJ
Simmons
Zion
Favors

A core of Ball, Simmons, Zion, Alexander, Hayes and Hart. A lot of talent and would have to make it work but Gentry can do that. One question is do you make Simmons or Zion a pf? Probably Simmons. I think Nurse would be ecstatic trying to figure it out.
Ska needs to make a comeback.

I know they were trying to have their backs, but I found it odd when Sixer Fans went nuts after Fultz made one shot and Simmons made a 3. For most Teams, this bare minimum would be expected from Top Picks.

Vol I is clearly the choice.

I’d still love to pair Simmons with Pascal, Lowry and OG. That would be super interesting. But would mean getting rid of Fred + parts and I doubt the Sixers would do it, just based on the return names alone—they’ll need A-list names to save face.

Regardless, all this ignores the fact that Masai has already convinced Giannis....

He ain't even ATTEMPTING a three point shot.

Crazy.

That aside, his playmaking abilities, rebounding and defense is tremendous.

Simmons 3.4fga, 23.5%

Simmons 0.1fga, 0.0%

3pt

Giannis 4.0fga, 30.0%
Simmons 0.0fga, 0.0%

I hope you're kidding other than at the rim those numbers are horrible.

Also it's been only 11 games on that 3pt shooting volume and he's shooting 29.5% on them, which is horrible offense (0.885 pts per 3pt shot).

Lol at 1.6 midrange fga through 11 games, that's 8 out of 18 midrange shots. In terms of sample size that's nothing. Giannis was 34.5% guy from midrange last year, again horrible offense. 24% in the playoffs

His free throw shooting has been getting worse the past few seasons as well 17-18: 76% (69.1% in playoffs), 18-19: 72.9% (63.7% in playoffs, 58.3% vs the Raps), 19-20: 63.1%.

And yet - way, way better shooter than simmons.
