Re: Patrick McCaw Apology Thread
I'm sorry ... Macaw is such a crappy player. But to be playing 20 minutes a game with a top-2 ranked defence, he must have some value on the trade market. Mustn't he?
I loved the post game comment from Lowry after the game in Minny. Eric asked something like, "how did it feel to have all the rotation players back for the first time this season." Lowry looked quizzical and said "we had them to start the season." And Eric replied: "No, you didn't have Patrick." The look on Lowry's face was priceless. He managed to refrain from doing an eye-roll, but it was close to that.

McCawful has one rebound (offensive rebound) in the last 4 games averaging about 23 minutes. ONE!
It must have just bounced right to him.

Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

WOW.. McCaw in the last stretch was horrible.
He couldn't break the double D. What did Nurse do? Swap in Fred for Davis??? What da.

LOL.. McCaw is not a good ball handler in normal situations, so I didn't expect him to do well under full-court press.

Re: Patrick McCaw Apology Thread
Contrary to popular opinion, I liked what I saw from McCaw this past game with the hawks. Again things that don’t show up on the box score and are under appreciated by folks here.
- lots of decisive quick passes to set up teammates for open looks in half court as well as that flashy transition dunk by TD
- multiple deflections/steals leading to fast break points for teammates
- he set a couple of good screens to create open 3s for teammates that were missed
- used his speed and lateral quicks to bother Trae for most of the game until the last 2 minutes
- ball handling was ok but yes he did struggle with the press but fortunately none of those turnovers resulted in points
- contrary to the whining on this forum, McCaw’s few mistakes had little to do with the Hawks comeback which was largely on mistakes by Norm, TD and Serge.
- sure Patrick is still a terrible shooter/scorer and passive and hesitant when the situation calls for creating for himself, but the reason Nurse likes him is because he understands how to work within Nurse’s systems to play defense and create for others.

This game was an outlier. Usually he doesn't contribute anything on or off the ball.

Re: Patrick McCaw Apology Thread
I’m catching up on some games I missed while on vacation. Watched the 2nd Boston game and the OKC loss. Wow! Those were the two best games I have ever seen McCaw play. His decisiveness and conviction on offense, shooting and driving were uncharacteristic for him and very impressive. All that along with his usual unselfish passing, quickness on D, anticipation in passing lanes for steals and positional D.
I’m sure there will be some stinkers in the games since then that I have yet to see but that is the player Nurse is hoping to develop from McCaw.
I’m guessing Fred’s injury forced McCaw into a role too big for him that likely deflated his confidence. And Nurse was trying to protect the team’s developmental plans for TD by keeping his role stable and not overplay him or give him too much responsibility.
It will be interesting catching up and watching this drama unfold after the fact while I also watch McCaw grow in what is now his ideal role as a 4th guard/defensive specialist now that everyone is back.
